Hope you can share your experience how you prepared your child for PSLE then. A million thanks !!

I am going to disappoint some parents here. Becos I did not do much with him other than making sure he went to bed by 9.30pm, ate-play-rest well. And nagging him to read more CL materials.

Come P5 and P6, you will find that the sch is doing a great job (borrow your previous post \"pile like nobody's biz). How can we as parents pile some more? Besides, piling does not necessarily translate to better grades. Those assessment books I bou for him during P5 and P6 are still intact. Dunno if will put to use for my younger boy

Guess the most impt thing I did was to manage my expectation and learnt to let go as early as possible. If my elder boy did not wake up on his own and become an independent worker cum learner, he might not hv done well in sch.
Always heard that P3 to P4 is a jump, P4 to P5 is a bigger jump. In P5, almost a PSLE standerd. What does these mean? Jump as in the suject or exam difficulties or the marking standerd.

I find Pri 2 to Pri 3 already a very big jump and DD has a hard time coping with all the homework.

Cousin's wife told me the stress (and can feel) is from P4 to P5...P2 to P3 is harder in terms of the more in-depth of subjects and introduction to Science.
At P5, the child is more or less expected to produce P6 answers...answers must be in detail, leaving no chance for doubt. I've started getting my daughter in P1 to learn to write clearly and neatly as I feel this should start from young.

When son was in P4, he had a hard time coping with the tons of homework...whole family had to help him one way or the other. Teachers literally pile on 'like nobody's business' 😒
Thanks, Janet. I better pre-empt DD and get her prepared for tougher times....

Anyone knows when we have to hand back the School Donation Card? I did not see any deadline.

The sch letter states collection in May.

I think every year's jump is about the same from P1 to P4.
Dyh, actually true... all they need to adapt to the change, and within 1 month I'm sure they will get the momentum, especially since every new year is after the long December break and they tend to become more lax, so come January when school gets into full swing, they cannot adjust.

U r right. By SA1, you will see the highest score in the cohort back in the 90+ range for almost all subjects.

This happened to me. By P5, I cant follow the MA syllabus anymore. My elder boy was on his own.

Can I say your son is mature for your age ? I dare not say that for my son...still waiting for him to wake up. I don't pile on more work for him, but ask him to do selected questions for practice. As for Science, I ask to do some practice for P5...read through P3/4 notes.
So far he doesn't have tons of homework this year as compared to P4.

So the shock will happen for CA1, then kids (and parents) quickly find a way to wake up from the scare and results go back to the norm of Band 1s again ? Wow, the kids in Pei Hwa sure can bounce then. Is this for the top 3 classes or across the level ?
