      Luanee:
My dd woke me up early on Sat morning to teach her Math and my blood pressure went up a few notches teaching her.. me not the patient type lol...

Btw she said she knows how to do the question but doesnt know how to draw models. Is it okie for her to use other methods (eg arrow methods she learnt in P1/P2) to solve during exams instead of drawing models?

Is she in P3/4? I think the teacher would want her to use the modelling method and may not give her full marks if she uses other methods.

The first I checked my DD's math worksheet yesterday. I found my DD use both algebra method and modeling method in her worksheet. Teacher gave her full marks so long she was right. But some questions asked for modeling method only.

So it's a fine balance. For the sake of school exams, better to know modelling well to tackle the 'modelling only' questions.

                        Yes, you are right.

I asked my DD to use modeling method to solve the same problem she once solved with algebra method. She found the modeling method was quite straightforward, and told me these 2 methods are the same concept in the end.
