Funny Though ....

The SA1, and Subsequent SA2 Results SomeHow Pick up (At Least for My Gal in P5 Last year) ....
And ....
With No Increase in Assessment Book, No Extra Tuition, No Change in Schedule for ALL CCA ....

Must Be It's something to DO with the Teaching in School ....
May Be they Adjust the Pace, or Refine the Way Lessons is Conducted to Tackle the Kid's Weak Area (Identified from CA1 Results) ?
πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰
The kids adjustment also play a part. There is a lot of different motivating an \"adjusted\" child and a \"yet-to-adjust\" child. Momentum is key and catch for \"burn-out sign as we drew closer to exams.
Hi Funx3,

I got the book 'Challenging Maths Problems Made Easy' yesterday and to my horror :!: it doesn't look like English to me...more like Greek..feeling really stupid. I just don't understand why primary school is this tough now.

IS this the 4-in-1 book?

What is 4-in-1 please ?
There is no mention what level it is for...all the terms on non-routine, remainder concept, quantity concept, pattern concept, equal concept. :?
Different book then. I like a EPH Maths ass book which has \"4-in-1\" in the title.
A Kind of Wake-Up Call and to Shake the Kids out of their Complacency ....

After CA1, Normally EveryOne Sit Up and Pay More Attention, esp the Parents ....

U r right. By SA1, you will see the highest score in the cohort back in the 90+ range for almost all subjects.

So the shock will happen for CA1, then kids (and parents) quickly find a way to wake up from the scare and results go back to the norm of Band 1s again ? Wow, the kids in Pei Hwa sure can bounce then. Is this for the top 3 classes or across the level ?
I do not hv the statistics for 2008 P5 CA1. SA1 cohort highest: 87 EL, 91 CL, 95 MA, 97 Sc, 86 HCL. Cohort avg: 66 EL, 66 CL, 56 MA, 74 Sc, 66 HCL. SA2 cohort highest: 92 EL, 92 CL, 99 MA, 93 Sc, 85 HCL. Cohort avg: 70 EL, 68 CL, 61 MA, 71 Sc, 59 HCL

Hubby just told last night about the P1 Maths taught to daughter in school when he signed the worksheets.

I was stump a couple of times last year when my dd came back with some of those questions. Time has changed.

Son was shocked his younger sister in P1 has to learn Models and counting legs of ducks and cows...he was taught that only in P3. Apparently MOE realized that is LATE, so brought forward.
I wash my hands off teaching Maths since son was in P1, all the more now. My job is to find out which assessment book is of help and value, coach in the other 3 subjects.
