VeryKS2010 did the tedious work on another post on the info on Mean and Median which I just extract info from his post to add onto the spreadsheet.
Beside Mean and Median info from VeryKS2010, the rest (affiliation {quite tedious}, non affiliatoin, school name, Express, NA, NT) including sorting is done by me quite easily. -
JonC:

Mean = Average = total score of all students divide by no of students
Median is the middle value when the score of the students are arranged in ascending order

Just curious, is the mean and median presented in the MOE website? I have seen the S1 posting booklet before, don't remember seeing the mean and median in there :?

not in the big book, but on the web with 4 years' record, school by school
what parents can do it short list the sec schools in mind, go moe website and extract those data on an Excel sheet and study them and start to rank them by score, by distance, go visit them, talk to their students, try the bus journey etc....in other words, do a complete due diligence .... -

Now I see.....No wonder I kept hearing people talk about mean and median. Also that it is a good gauge if the kid match up to the school standard or at the bottom of the cohort. It is something to pay attention to! -

because when they are all mixed up in sec one in the school they are posted to, some will slack some will work hard....so those at the so-called \"bottom half\" of the cohort may very well rise to the top when the are awaken to their ability and the thrill of achieving good results while those used to be higher performer may have suffered a burn out at PSLE.....
as along as you are in your dream school, you are good there. just work hard. everybody has the same opportunity in the school
