HOW TO OVERCOME THE FEAR OF PARKING A CAR...ADVICE NEEDED
-
Practise slowly and build up your confidence. It’s actually a lot easier to reverse park than to go in head first. You need less space to park when reverse parking. And much easier to get out of the car park too.
-
actually no need to worry too much about your parking
if you happen to knock anything, sure got sound one right ? can hear and stop lor .....     -
Tips:
1) Buy an old car with lots of scratches and dents already… not so heart pain
2) Buy a small car so you can have good view of everything
3) Always go to the level with the least cars. Better to walk a bit more.
4) Choose single lots. You won’t hurt any other cars.
5) Try not to visit these car parks: Novena Sq, Square 2, Liang Court (worst), Nex (their designers don’t drive…)
6) Go at non-peak periods if possible so you will have lots of choices.
I always pick and choose my parking lot not because I need help, but I am one super fussy car owner who doesn’t like people opening their doors into mine. So I either choose single lots, side lots or parallel ones. Sometimes I would rather take a cab there than drive if I know the parking spaces are limited. -
Don’t park yr car head in… it is unsafe when you are reversing out. got blind spot and prone to accident…

Don’t be afraid, just do it. When going to multi-storey carpark, go slow when doing the turn. When reversing, go slow too. No parallel parking, no head in (cos you can’t see oncoming traffic and reversing out) and no go to those squeezy carparks.
Most importantly, DON’T be pressurized by drivers waiting for you to park your car. Just let them wait. Once I was at Mt Alvernia in the morning and everyone was waiting for a lot, luckily one beside me came out and I shamelessly took my time to park (ehh, I reversed and move out a few times to adjust too…hee hee). I think the mercs behind me was afraid of me, so he quickly reverse a bit more to give me more space. haha…
For me, I choose carpark lots where there is a car / pillar on the side I’m reversing into, cos they act as my parking poles. haha. -
like i mentioned earlier, do not go head in… i went head in and when i reversing out… my car boot got "kiss" by another car…

Agree with Herbie. I also find it easier to reverse park than park head in. Just go slow. That’s the key. After a while, you’ll be familiar with the size of your car and will be able to park quite easily. Don’t give up. All the best!

But in Australia, don’t reverse park. They will horn at you for taking up time. All their cars go head in.

For the matter... most other countries park head in. I used to know a girl who never knew how to reverse park, and yet she drives everywhere. It is only in countries like Singapore where we have small cars (for which we pay a fortune) that we have reverse parking

Ive got a question for all. What will you do if you happen to hit another car while parking?
