HOW TO OVERCOME THE FEAR OF PARKING A CAR...ADVICE NEEDED
-
like i mentioned earlier, do not go head in… i went head in and when i reversing out… my car boot got "kiss" by another car…

Agree with Herbie. I also find it easier to reverse park than park head in. Just go slow. That’s the key. After a while, you’ll be familiar with the size of your car and will be able to park quite easily. Don’t give up. All the best!

But in Australia, don’t reverse park. They will horn at you for taking up time. All their cars go head in.

For the matter... most other countries park head in. I used to know a girl who never knew how to reverse park, and yet she drives everywhere. It is only in countries like Singapore where we have small cars (for which we pay a fortune) that we have reverse parking

Ive got a question for all. What will you do if you happen to hit another car while parking?

In USA, nobody knows how to reverse park. My hubby learned to drive in USA and got the driving licence, but he did not learn reverse parking.cherrygal:

When he returned to Singapore, he had to get a driving instructor to teach him and sit for the driving test again. After he passed, he drove everyday and mastered reverse parking. -

At first, try to look for 2 empty lots side by side. When you park, just reverse into the middle of the space first, then take your time to adjust correctly. You will slowly build up your confidence. This was what I did when I drove on my own.Recently, I began to pick up my driving again after 8 years....
I still have the fear of parking my car ....
How to overcome this obstacle.... :?:
How to train to park without fear ...so you will not bang the other car...
cause major traffic jam??
Also have fear going up multi storey carpark.... :stupid:
I took 8 hours of refresher course ....but still cannot conquer Parking....

In fact, some parking lots are designed at an angle to facilitate head in parking. Unfortunately we don't have the luxury of space here in Singapore. -

Lolz, in fact, we were able to tell who are the Singaporean drivers in any ang mo parking lot by looking at those that are reverse parked. BTW, it is ILLEGAL to reverse park for those lots which are forward-angled which are meant to park head-in. There are also reverse-angled-parking which requires REVERSE parking and are safer for drivers leaving the parking lot.
BTW... there's a little known rule in SG about parallel parking... you are not allowed to park against the flow of traffic. Warrants a $50 fine. -

If you need to leave before the car owner arrives, do the honest thing : leave your contact on the wind screen and tell that fella you have a photo of the damage (so that he will not over-claim you on repair bills)
In such a situation, the owner of the damaged car would at least appreciate an honest fella then to report a hit-and-run...
