Hi mummies,is it true that children attending TNS usually can read quite well?

I was just asking a mum abt reading level for k2 to be able to cope well for TNS p1...she said most children r good readers - example geronimo stilton n magic treehouse series for p1... As in they have progressed onto chapter books.

Is that the requirement?or the norm?
I don't think this is a requirement but probably, given that parents nowadays are more involved with their kids and a lot of pre-school kids have enrichment and tuition, I suspect it is more of a norm. In any case, it is always good to cultivate the reading habits from young.

For your info, please refer to the attached link for recommended reading list for P1.

              hi,

I dun know abt the P2s, but the P1s received the form "2011 P1 & P2 Badminton Enrichmnt Programme" the other week… The closing date stated 23rd Feb. And 1st session will start on 7th March. Maybe you can try contacting the IC - Mdm Lai Cai Qin at 9735 6469, as stated in the form.

                Hi there

I missed the parent teacher get together session for Primary One students that was held over the weekend just before CNY. Can anyone share what happened during the session (in particular for Pri 1B) and if I should contact the form teachers to arrange a separate session?
My child is from 1K. Basically the EL and CL teachers just shared more details about the upcoming assessment such as CA, and SA. Similar to the sharing by HODs during the first day of school, but maybe more personalised to the class.

Can parents recommend an EL dictionary suitable for primary schools? Will like to get one for my DS who is in P1.

Our Oxford dictionary seems to cheem for him.
                  Thanks in advance.

According to the TNS book list, below are the recommended dictionaries:

P3 - Longman Active Study Dictionary
P4 to P6 - Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English

                    Hope that helps.

Wow, looks like the school is doing a lot of Maths program during the school holidays. What with Marvellous Maths for P1 and Maths Mastermind for P2 etc. My ds didn't have such programs in the past. 😉
