We all know that learning is a life-long process, but somehow everybody is such uptight about CA, SA and psle including myself. :stupid:

The saddest part is it didn't end at PSLE. I am still very uptight even till today when my eldest kid is old enough to get married. My only consolation is when at times they do recognise our love and concern and not take me as being old and naggy. -

Yes fully agreed with you. Sometimes I try to be more relax and leave them alone. But then little hiccup will occur to them and in retrospect, I wished I had been more vigilant. So the worrying starts all over again.

I would like to seek help if any parents face the same problem with me ....
I have this problem when my DD does her Maths problems. Any problem sums, sometimes when she reads it, the next minute, 'mummy, I don't know how to do.\" when I go through with her, break it down, she can do it. I am wondering if she understands the concept or she is lazy to think out of the box or she does not have confidence to work through the sums herself.
I felt lost on what to do to help her .
Recently she got back her maths CA , she got a B. Is it on the safe side ?
Obviously , I wld hope she gets a A.
Another question is how to read the COP to enter secondary sch under the MOE website, as they have few Columns, like \"low, Upper, mean, median,\"

I always tell my DS that take every test as a learning opportunity. It is not only to test what you know, but also to highlight to you what you do not know. If you know most of it, good for you. :celebrate: If you have something in there that you do not know, :scratchhead: even better cos you learn in the process. Hopefully, it is not the case of you know but you have forgotten :slapshead:
I like your above quote. Will share with DS when he comes home later.

I used to face the same problem with my son. The sheer length of the problem sums would put him off. I would have to go through the sum with him to convince him that it is not as bad as he thought it was.
We have to work at building their confidence. I get him to highlight important info. so far so good. Once he does the sum, i copy the same in another book that i have and let him try the same sum about 1-2 days later. This method works and he can remember better. He is also at the B grade only. i think he must get a strong A in all subjects at the least to get into a good secondary school.
As for the COT, i just resorted to calling the schools direct to ask.

I think working toward an A should not be a problem since now is begining of March.
My nephew (last year P6) had improved from C (CA1) to A (Prelim) and finally get an A for PSLE.

Superann does the same with her kid. Perhaps you should try it. We have time. letโs work hard woth our kids to help them acheive better grades.
