We all agreed to let dd go to a better neigbourhood school so dat dd wld not b the weakest in Academics in her cohort. We believe being the weakest in the cohort in teenage years mayb quite dampening n do not do much good to her self esteem, espy in turbulent teenage years.
I had the same thought then too. Better to be a big fish in a small pond as the big fish will get more opportunities to showcase its potential.
My elder boy finally did well for his PSLE. The sec sch he is attending now has a small cohort size. Last year he was offered a writing course (by Stanford U) and this year a chance to represent the sch in an international Maths competition. -

Being recognised really makes a difference in the child's attitude towards learning. Like dangling a carrot in front. Hope he keeps up this effort and not be distracted by BGR in future
And again I have to manage my expectations of my younger boy. Cant be selfish to think he wld be like my elder boy. -

Very true. Their confidence level and attitude will be \"charged up\" and they will perform well. -

He is going through the MO book, doing 10 qns daily n keeping a notebook of those qns he did not understand how to do and needed to refer to the ans. This is the kind of independent learner I hope all children will become eventually, just a matter of when.
The selection test is not due yet. Not getting high hopes that he will definitely be selected, but it is comforting to see that he is putting in effort to work towards a goal. -

Yes, I am hoping my DD will be independent in terms of her studies. She is currently very independent when it comes to homework, but once homework is done, she's like \"totally switched off\". :stupid:
Anyway, Jennifer, I wish your DS all the best!!! :celebrate: :celebrate: -

And following lizhi's theory that boys get their intelligence solely from their mums, this shows that Jen is one clever mama :salute: .

So mother & son ended up in the same jc?
