Oh... so the kid must at least get the COP for the sec school althrough the kid is accepted via DSA and not only qualify for express stream at around 200 ?

No. Normally the School Will Consider Many Factors, Apart from the Kids Talent before they Give the Confirmed Place. In the Application, still have to submit our kids Academic results for P5 and P6.

So the school Already got 1st sieving process internally.
But if got Confirmed Letter. The School will Honour their Offer even when PSLE results below their cut-Off (but must be above 200 points Express Stream cut off).

But ....
Like I Mentioned B4, If the Kid Got Results in the 200 points region, would U wish to Stressed them, to place them in a School with the 250 to 260 points kids?

Even for DSA under academic Results, Schools Not Necessary will offer every kid who meet their Cut-off, as well.
Know of GEP school Kids who R Not Offered in DSA. But they Get in Later with their PSLE results. Becoz in Join Admission Exercise, as long as PSLE Score is above the school cut off for that year, they will be offered a place in the school.
:celebrate: :celebrate:

Ok.. it is much clearer now. Thank you for providing the information. So does your girl have to take the GAT test and interview ?
EveryOne Apply for DSA-Sports, DSA-Dance Has to take GAT Test and Attend Interview.

My Gal is still in P6 Now. DSA normally starts around Jun to early JuL.

Hi, what kind of achievement must they have in Chinese dance before being accepted into NYGH via dance DSA ?
Depends on School.
But DSA thru dance is Very Tough.

2 years ago, one of my Gal's Senior try DSA at NYGH. Her Mum Say that year 200+ Gals try and Only 2 were selected.
Unfortunately, Not Her Gal. Her Gal is in Grade 9 in NAFA and has been in school Chinese dance Team. Her school has won numerous awards in SYF.
But So Does Many Other Schools in Spore.

Last Year, Heard from My Gal's Dance T one of her students Selected for DSA to NYGH. Heard She impressed the school selection Panel with her \"Very Expressive\" dance items during Audition.
She's in Grade 9 Chinese Dance.

Don't know the numbers trying, since have not met the kid's mum. but imagine should be about the same applicants.
My Gal says Many of her school mates in Chinese Dance R trying for DSA this year in NYGH, and She wanted to Join them. That's Why Giving it a try.
Did Reminded her that she need to prepare for the Audition, etc. But she says it'll be fun to go Audition, etc with ALL her friends ....
:celebrate: :celebrate:

Also for gym, altho my girl is also doing gym, but I do not have intention for her to be very good in it because I am worry of injuries. So my intention is only for her to do it at a recreational level. What is your thought and experience on that.

Regards,

Ya... doing gym is very easy to get injury especially if you want to get competitive.

Yes Gym is Prone to Injury.

My Gal has Numerous Injuries, Big and Small, since she started training for Competitive Gym.
The Most Serious one is when she Fell and have a >4\" Lacerations below her Lips when she's in P2.
During those Days, she started crying before Gym sessions. But Like what the Gym Coach says, she has to pick up at where she's fallen. When she's started training, albeit at a slower pace, she's OK.
It's just a psychological Barrier she has to overcome.
And in that year, Her Team came in Second for the Inter-school.

Others R mostly sprains and over-worked Muscle Pains to her Knees, her Ankles, Her Back, Her Wrist, Her Bloody Palms (due to Constant friction while working out on the Uneven Bars) ....

Now, I've Become more proficient in Massages with the constant practice ....

The Coach R Professional and Structured in their Training.
So Far, has been OK.

But My Gal has Switched to Rhythmic Gym (RG) since last year as her school promotes RG and has stopped ALL Artistic Gym (AG) in School.

RG is ALL Floor Exercises, but working with Balls, Ropes, Hoops, etc.
So Even Less Prone to Injury.

Sort Of.
But Still Got a Fair Amt of Technics Involved.
And They Look for Perfection of Technics in Competition.
Else Lots of Deductions of Points ....

Wow. Didn't you feel 'heart pain' when your little girl was injured? Did you have thoughts of withdrawing her from the sport?
Yeah, Definite-ly on the \"Heart-Pain\" Part.

On that Event-ful Day, I Had to Work during her training.
Was in Fact at My Suppliers' Office When I Received the Call from Her Dad ....
I Was Scolded By the Supplier's Manager (She's A Mummy with young kids, as well) for Not Dropping every-thing to Go and Be with My Little Gal Immediately ....
We Did Rushed her to NUH for Emergency Treatment .... My Gal was rather Brave. Although in Pain, She Did not Howl her Heart out ....

As for thoughts of withdrawal from the sports ....
No, the Thought did Not Cross my mind at All.

Knowing that to succeed in Competitive Sports, Some Knocks and Pains R inherent. So I do Not Over-ly Shelter Her in this Aspects. But I Give Her Lots of Encouragement, FULL support and   ....

Furthermore My Gal is the One who's interested in the Activity in the First place, and I Do Not wish to see her give up becoz of this. I Believe that for her to be stronger and not develop fears of failure or lost her confidence and interest in this, she has to pick up from where she's fallen.

Her Coach is very patient, and ease her back into Vaulting Routine Very- Very Slow-ly. Over the Course of about a couple of months, she overcome her fears and resume normal training ....

And she did Well in the Inter-school Championship that year ....
So for Everybody Around, It Turns Up Well ....
:celebrate: :celebrate:
