markfch, from P2 onwards, the last question of CL Comprehension OE is the killer shot....the students must be able to comprehend the passage and to answer the question using his own words. you can't find the answer in the passage itself....and that question worths 4 marks...lucky, my gg got 3.5 for this question...
I know what you're trying to do. You're a very notti mummy  .Happy Mama:
Hehehe... Sorry I am also not able to confirm the highest, as DD is not sure if highest is 49 or 49.5 out of 50 marks

Btw after reading E3-lizhi conversation (yes I can read chinese, just a bit slow only hehe), and then Jen's sci qn, I now understand why you folks said that there is a quantum leap between P1/P2 to higher levels.
Thanks to KSP. At least now I know what to expect and won't get shock. -

My ds is complexed in personality, he is more open w children his age, I'm still tryin to teach him to share his feelings w me in a constructive manner

Maybe it's because young children are less likely to be judgemental?
Can't wait to hear what Ts say about ds.
Yesterday ds rated sch life as 9/10, says his very happy there. -
Another qn 35a) In which setup will the guppy be the first to die? Explain your ans (2 marks).
My boy ans the first part correctly, but no marks becos his 2nd part ans was marked wrong.
His ans: There was no air for the guppy to breathe in setup B.
Correct ans: The fish in setup B has lesser air becos the oil blocks the air from coming in. -

Yes, the answer requires them to indicate that it is the oil that is preventing air from entering the water; hence here is a lack of dissolved oxygen. I kept reminding DD to answer this way, in case this question appears in her paper. But for such a long answer, only 1 mark. Not worth.

there is a big diff between the term \"no air\" and \"lesser air\". am i right?Another qn 35a) In which setup will the guppy be the first to die? Explain your ans (2 marks).

Funx3:
Hi Funx3, may I know - Is PH P6 CA1 papers included in those standard set of Top sch exam papers that one can buy from those vendors? If not, can I ask you for a favour - to make a copy of the P6 MA CA1 papers? With answers and workings are ok.Better to See statistics from FT this Coming Sat.
But My Gal commented that last year SA2 is EASY ....
So A Drop in Marks in CA1 this year is expected ....
Just Want to find out if the Drop is EXTRA- ORDINARY or Not ....
If EveryOne Drops Around the Same, Her Result is Consistent -la!

PH's P5 CA1 papers are not included those standard set of exam papers that I bought. That's why I have no idea it can be THAT DIFFICULT! Actually come to think of it, my ds might have attempted 2010 P5 CA1 MA papers in their Mock exam, but I didn't pay much attention to that then.
This year's P5 CA1 MA papers, IMO, really got STANDARD! Even my dh tried to solve the problems until he fell asleep! I will make a copy of it (hopefully T gives it back to us after today's checking, even if they want to collect it back subsequently) for ds to revise in SA1 if I have the chance. So if any of the P4 parents want to have it, let me know.
That's why now have to be KS and start asking for P6's! Especially since your dd also thought it is a difficult one .. -

I see. Currently ds even have problems lifting ans directly out from compre passages. So you're saying I've 9 mths to sort out this issue?

You're staying up cos of soccer? I'm on 2.5 days leave so keeping a late nite. -

Yes, I agreed his ans to part B is less than desired. BUT due to this, his correct ans in part A is also not recognised as correct. His understanding is there, but manner of explaining is lacking.

I find the marking scheme getting more stringent.
