is there any way to still be able to obtain an O level cert, even though you are in the IP programme ?

bec having an O level cert … is more secure.
just rely on an A level cert to do well is … very risky.
anything can happen before / during A level exam time.

Unless you sit for the O-level exam (maybe as a private candidate), else no way to obtain the O-level cert.

IP students are not allowed to sit for 0-level as a private candiate. If unsure whether IP is suitable, best is to take the 0-level route and proceed to jc later.

          Literally, there's no difference.

Rv's principal thinks that the improvement in the overaall national wide a level results may be attributable to more schools joining IP. In other words, he is saying IP improves A level results.

Another principal from NanYang JC concured with the view. he believes that IP schools have an advantage in prepearing for A level over non-IP JCs because of the seamless process which started right from sec1,2.

              dear lizawa, INNOVATE and WeiHan,

Thank you to 3 of you - for your precious, valuable, kind feedback!
              🙂

so this means …… if I want my child to choose the Polytechnic path, then she should not go IP path in Secondary school. Because she will need the O level certificate.

According to MOE, the IP route is for students who are clearly University-bound. So if you think your child may be considering going to Polytechnic, then the IP route is not for him/her.

Judging from your posts, you are advised to take the 0-level route rather than IP which is not well-known overseas at this juncture. Several years down the road, its easier to score in the 0-level exam as oppose to now due to the absence of more high ability students.

                        You will hve more choices.
