So How's Everybody's Date with the FT today?
:celebrate: :celebrate:
My butts are still warming my sofa home. My kids are still pigging. Eldest running a low grade fever after her farm trip last afternoon. Thankfully today she has no school. CL tr is CL HOD, bet he must be super hot. Maybe I will just speak to FT (Maths&Sci) and EL tr.
Your dd has a few marks below avg, still not too bad. Only CA1, can easily catch up lah, esp with her calibre.
Btw, while reciting moxie with dd, I also clown around, and/or speak w/o sound and/or draw comics to aid her memorising too. Like that not so boring and can be easily recalled. She said when she writes compo, she often giggles because she recalls my pic/actions. -
We r back. Met Mdm Chen (7.20am) before she was ready, found out my boy was invited to TTLT MA but he thought otherwise! Had to wait for the CL and Sci teachers to arrive. EL teacher arrived at 8.20am. Generally my boyβs behaviour is ok in class, other than being easily distracted.
Tips for improving CL: speak and read more.
Tips for improving Sci: revise his journal and pay more attention to what she says in class.
Tips for MA: practise more to build up confidence.
Tips for EL: do more writing and compreh exercises.
Found out this year P4 class is not grouped by EL, hence the disparity in std in my boyβs class. -
Jennifer:
You are another fast mommy.

Can you elaborate on this? I thot they are banded by P3 avg % of the 4 subjects, no? -
IJJ:
Your understanding \"based on P3 % avg of 4 subjs\" is correct for last year P3 2010, this year P4 2011.

We were told by the EL teacher that the 2 previous years (P3 in 2008 & 2009) were grouped based on EL banding. -
Jennifer:
I see I see. So last year and before CH4 has the highest EL scores in P3, but no nec strong in other subjects? Is that what you meant? No wonder my girl's class has band 1 to band 3 for EL.Your understanding \"based on P3 % avg of 4 subjs\" is correct for last year P3 2010, this year P4 2011.

Come to think of it, the disparity of even the M1 class in their CA1 scores (from band 1 to band 3) is also quite huge although the class is grouped based on highest maths results. -
I have received the Parent STAR reading report. They said that my dd is at least 80% proficient at reading sixth grade words and books. But when we borrow books from the library she always likes to borrow 6-9 aged books.

How I wish they have a star reading report on Chinese ability too. If that is tested, I guess mine will be in the 10th percentile.
For english books, from the library, my 9 yo is borrowing from a range starting from preschooler to young adult. -

If the school have Chinese reading test, my dd will be very embarrassed.lizhi:

Yours read such a wide variety of books, that is so good. -

Actually, it can be done in 5-15 minutes everyday. Learning ι»ε benefits a lot because you can use it for compositions. If you can remember it VERY VERY well, then you can use it VERY VERY freely, that means \"ηθ½ηε·§\".
Wow very systematic, lizhi :salute:lizhi:
Normally, every week on Wednesday my dd has ι»ε
so on Thursday I let my dd read ALL the ι»ε sentences 3 times.
On Friday, my dd memorise the ones she chose 3 times again when she is taking a bath.
On Saturday, she will write the 1st ι»ε.
On Sunday she will write the 2nd one.
On Monday she will write the 3rd one.
On Tuesday she will write all 3 together.
On Wednesday she will have her ι»ε in school.
Then on Thursday she will read the next ι»ε 3 times and so on...
Can tell that moxie really takes a big chunk of study time. Better enjoy P1 (for my case) while it lasts :nailbite: .
