still air dry it - but on hanger
So you are saying need not force dry it when ironing damp cloth? Will the cloth be strightened? If you want it to force dry it , it will take a long time to iron right? and not sure if that will consume more electricity. From what I know iron consume a lot of electricity just like kattle.jtoh:
one trick on the ironing chore is to do it while the clothes is still damp (esp after spin dry), iron it, and then put it on the hanger to dry
But won't that give the clothes a 'damp' smell? -

I used to do that too and my parttime maid does that now. It's easier to iron when the clothes are damp, as it has the same effect as steaming the clothes. After ironing, hang the clothes in an airy place to dry. Not in the cupboard. There will not be a damp smell.verykiasu2010:

No difference from drying the clothes then got to wet/steam it to iron it ..... waste of time....in fact this way of ironing produces much better result than dry-ironing itjtoh:

no smell if you hang it out to air dry it before storing it in cup board -
I see. Thanks.

i don’t cook, don’t iron clothes, get husband those wrinkle-free shirt (more costly but also more hassle-free), both of us are holding management-level position so can imagine how busy we are, but I still can set aside 1-2 hours per night to teach my child. and myself do not bring any work home so i spend weekends with my child, while husband has to work even during weekends.
we don’t have parents neither maids to help since the first day we had baby, -
it is possible without maid, but i shall admit it is painful coz i do not any free time at all. I do not watch any movie for consecutively 5 years and I do not go to any spa or facial treatment. i seldom watch TV or DVD either. Everyday was the same, rushing for work, rushing back home, doing house cores during weekends. More or less like a robot …

Agree with Sporemum having a maid doesn't mean we're free. Me too have not watched much movies since my triplets were born almost 4 years ago. Maybe 5 in 3 years? also not watched TV... so have no idea about what's showing on TV except the titles of famous or notorious shows like Ai.
Anyway, looking for inspiration to sack my maid from you peeps! -

Actually I have gone maidless, when my kids are abt 11 and 9 yrs when my last maid left after her pp expire at 5 yrs. Come to think of it, I had been lucky with maids in the sense that I did not hv to sack any maid before their contract is up and the last one even renew a couple of times.

Anyway i did that as my kids were old enuf to be taught independence and I had a parttime/teleworking argmt. The timing was just right as the kids were old enuf to help out in chores eg folding clothes, wash plates. Get them to agree to the schedules but of course u need to monitor like hell. Also simpllify yr chores so that u dont tear yr hair out doing them! -

Agree...it is possible to do without a maid. It's tough bcos there is simply no ME time at all.
