Didn't the news report that 70-80% of students end up with at least A/A* for PSLE for MT? That's why there was no basis to remove MT as a required subject for psle t-score calculation either.

For 2010 PSLE, 81.2% nationwide scored A or A* for Chinese. Agree with you, only less than 20% of students could not score A or better grade, the best performance among all subjects.

Is English the tougher subject to get A or A*?
Yes. Just to share:

      Subject % scoring A and A*
      English 44.3%
      Maths 43.3%
      Science 43.2%
      Chinese 81.2%

            Hi Leanne

I also think so. If want to score A* have to do extremly well in Paper 2.

If most people get A and A* for Chinese, and a child gets only B, then his T-score could be badly affected. PSLE is really the most challenging exam, one has to do well in all four subjects relative to his/her cohort in order to score well. All the best to those taking PSLE!

                Hi Wonderm,

Totally agreed. One B is enough to kill.I also observed a child with Four A, but t score is 220.

My nephew, 2 A star and 2 A, I guess his two Star is very high, and the other is low A(languages), thus getting a score of 251 last year.

                  Hi Brenda,

I would think the paper one that determine the A star grade, with other factor remains unchanged.

                  Cheers

                      Hi Brenda,

No prob about the typo error.

Usually paper two is not too hard, its the compo and oral that makes the difference.

How about for other subjects? I didn't realize that until a friend of mine said she hardly knew of kids who scored A* in English.
