Flower Power:
My son is put onto the school bus when he is in K1. All's good and the best part is it frees up a lot of time for the caregiver to drive to and fro from school within that few hours. The traffic condition up the hill is not exactly stress-free. Next year my younger son shall hop onto the school bus for Pre nursery, no need to wait until K1.
Hi Flower Power,
So I gather you have successfully registered your DS2 already for next year?
Yes, during the past 2 months of fetching my son back from the kindy via taxi, my maid got lots of complains and black faces from the taxi uncles caught at the jam with the long line of cars and only one way down via the queue!
So ended up taking the school bus is the best option since they get to leave the school earlier as well compared to the private pick-ups.
Will you be going for the AM or PM session?

hi all,
nice to see so many mommies saying all things good and nice about MMK
i've enrolled my DD for next year's intake for Nursery (PM session).
I'm rather anxious about her going to kindy next year as we had a not so nice experience this year when we enrolled her for Nursery in another school.
I was thinking if any mommies who live near MMK (I live in Bishan), would like to form like a support-group (erm is that what it's called?) so that our kids can socialise and maybe next yr when sch term starts, our kids will hv some familiar faces and wont freak out?
Just a thought.. if there's anyone interested, do kindly reply to this post or drop me an email! [email protected]
Thank you and have a lovely weekend

Hi windy,
So I gather your DD is in pre-Nursery this year. Is she now attending a child-care centre? Care to share about your \"not so nice\" experience? Because actually for a kid to start pre-Nursery is always stressful at the beginning because they are bound to cry quite a bit before getting use to going to school.
From my own experience and what I see from my DS' classmates, most Nursery children would have gotten used to going to school hence the experience would not be so bad. During term start this year, only a handful of Nursery kids cried but for the 1st 3 days, there were 4 teachers in each Nursery class to help to settle these kids in hence help would be available for your DD next year if it is needed.
Not to worry so far ahead!

Hi DesertWind
thanks for replying!
DD was suppose to attend half-day N1 this year. but after 1 month of crying, we decided to pull her out of school.
I totally understand the separation anxiety that a young child experiences when school starts. but i also believe that learning should be a happy experience too.
yes one can say i am the soft-hearted mommy type. i shouldnt have this shouldnt have that. should hv trained her to be more independent blah blah blah hahaha.. i have heard all these LOL! but i know my child best, and i know she was not happy.
we've been attending julia gabriel since 18mths. and she's happy there! yes, it's adult accompanied. and maybe i failed to allow her to interact independently on a social level. am trying my best now!
We're doing art classes and music classes during the week. Hv adopted a hands-off approach and we're slowly getting there!
Like every parent, I just want my daughter to be happy.

Hi windy,
Nobody can tell you what to do with your kid and mummy knows best. My ex-neighbour with a pre-N boy this year also chose not to send her son to a kindy this year but send him to a nearby CCC/enrichment class 3 days a week. She said she knows he is not ready. Next year he will attend a church kindy and she is also staying at Bishan.
I have also seen couple of pre-N kids at MMK crying+screaming+running around very, very badly during orientation/term re-open when their parents left them. Very jia-lat, heart-paining, difficult for the parents.
Last year my boy stopped crying after 10 to 15 mins at a CCC. I told myself if he cried for 15 mins or more for one week, I would have withdrawn him from school. Luckily he stopped crying/screaming badly after about 10 mins. the first few days. So each parent's tolerant level is different.
Pre-N time is the time to train for school by going to an enrichment class/pre-school with very small class-size (not the big classroom type) with interesting activities to do. Easier for kid to get use to the environment. Once she is trained this year, next year Nursery would be easier.
All the best!

Hi Windy
I also jus enrolled my gal in nursery PM nx yr. And I live in Bishan too. Its a good idea to hv a "support group" so our kid wont feel so lost when they go school next year. I will let my gal take school bus. How about you? -
