I just managed to hear from a few Japanese friends and they are coping even though some are still awaiting news of their own loved ones.

Another friend who is running her own business is now wondering how to continue since her products are manufactured in Japan.

Restaurants which depend on fresh fish from Japan would have a prob.
It's just wonderful that Japanese people are going about their normal lives despite the big tragedy which striked them. Can you believe there is no looting ?

there was a small mentioned of looting in either yesterday or the day beofre straits times.


the police just closed one eye and one teenager was quoted as saying he hopes to sell the dvds he picked up. guess he has no money and hope to sell them to buy food etc.

It is very tragic…loss if lives, nuclear radiation and even worst for the survivors - no home, clothes and food. All the very basic essentials.

someone donated a $1m and i am sure many in singapore are doing likewise (could be more or less $1m). where this money ends up, no one knows. we just donate in good faith.


heard that many mainland chinese are rushing to hk to buy japanese milk powder by the boxes and hkers are doing likewise too. now sellers are charging at least 42% more. so is anyone stocking up food in spore???

i dont know why but i feel more for this diaster (also 911) than the siquan earthquake and a few others. maybe it is the constant replay of how the water swept the houses, people etc away destroying the whole city.

I wonder why the 24 year old lady who donated $1 million, wanted to be made known to public together with her father. Most philanthropists do not want to be made known (unless they are public figures). Even then, some public figures choose to remain anonymous.
