This morning the current tutor ask me if I still want to let my eldest gal continue with her and omit my K1 ( both my gals have tutition with her) to lessen the cost .. but the quality is something that i have questions about now ..lizhi:

Hi Janet, no problem
I finally confirmed with the new tutor this evening. Wanted to terminate the services of this exsiting tutor this thursday ( i.e. to complete 2 more lessons before ending it ) but tutor didn't \"allow\" and said I must give one month notice and pay her the fee till the month end whether or not I want her service. I was a little taken a back honestly, because I was not aware of this \"policy\" but nevertheless, I will just continue till month end. In fact, the tutor told me I can stop her services after next week, but just pay her the full month fee.
On the other hand, the new tutor spotted a mistake that the current tutor made, some chinese characters that my gal has written wrongly but was not corrected by tutor .. also, my gal had a chance to do a comparison between the tutor versus the new tutor, and feedbacked that the new tutor bother to explain the mistake in comprehension, and guided her through reading the comprehension passage and making sure my gal understand the entire passage .. while the current tutor usually leave it to my gal to read the passage on her own and answer the questions, and if there are mistakes, she will provide the correct answer to my gal to write down (correction) which half the time did not provide explanation to my gal as to why the responses my gal gave were wrong .. -

For those parents with kids in P2 and upper primary like me, this coming SA1 is really no joke. it stretches from mid April to mid May. looks like a marathon for me. *sigh*
Tell me about it
. Preparation for EL/CL oral have to start now, followed by EL/CL compo. By the time the written papers are close, my stamina has run out and I'm really breathless. If hubby doesn't take over, I would be very stressed.

Hi lizhi,
I agree with you that tutors who only think of money is irresponsible.
My prev one went for holiday after SA2, doesnโt bother to ask how son did. I had to sms her to ask when she would be returning. The moment she returned, she smsed to tell me to increase fees to $60/hr for son w.e.f Jan 2011โฆso mad with her. Didnโt even see SA2 papers which I photocopied to show her. -

So must do the SA1 prep like running a marathon. Go slow and gradually increase the speed. Slow down a bit after Oral then gather speed again.dyh:

That is what I am going to do ... Consistency is the key. -
Yesterday my dd complain that it is not fair that P1 do not have SA1 and SA2. I told her too bad ... she missed it by 1 year
Ironically, she also miss the new school premise as well .. by one year
So for those P2 above that gotten trophies in P1, I guess the P1 trophies are very \"valuable\" now. They are now officially under the \"vintage collector's edition\"

Took out son's Maths, Chinese and English text last night. For English, we revise diff stuff eg grammar/vocab, comprehension, synthesis. As for Chinese, there are 10 chapters in A book to revise and 6 chapters for Maths. Weekends are the best to revise, but have to keep some free nearer the days for oral and compo. Sorry for being lor-soh.
Consistency is really necessary. -
Hi Lizhi,
Yeah, exactly. Do you know if it is the \"standard\" to give one month's notice to private tutors if you do not wish to continue their service ?
There is no black and white agreement unlike with tuition centers or enrichment clasese whereby you ack and sign during enrollment.
I didn't give her zero notice in that sense, I gave her one week's notice whch inlcude 4 lessons together for both gals.lizhi:

Oh, that sounds also bad...for primary tution fee, $60/hr, quite high.Hi lizhi,

If the tutor is really care about children's learning and try to improve the result, we may accept the higher charges. -
Sigh! now my gal who just finished her lesson with this current tutor told me she changed her mind and prefer this exiting tutor, and now told me that the teacher did explained everything to her, not just rote learning.
I wonder why she sings a diff tune now. Did askl her if the tutor said anything to her, she said no .. my gal said yesterday when she told me those stuffs as to whether tutor explained her mistakes or not, she was uunsure and \"forgot\" ..hl124273:

EL oral should be fine. CL is not going to be easy.
Can P5/6 parents share the components for P4 oral for both languages? Same as P3?
