      Hi Brenda,

I would think so, but I yet to start the SA1 papers as have shifted the focus to science.

At least, you have put chinese in good use, for me, have not used it for quite sometime, think quite rusty already.

Yes, certainly hope all the p6 students are well charged.

      cheers
      Leanne

My CL is so so only and still have long way to learn lah.

Let’s hope all the children have charge enough battery for the next race.

      Cheers[/quote]

          Hi Brenda10,

I think your dd school focus alot on Chinese.

For ds school, I think more focus is on english and math.Nothing heard about sci teaching.

Last weekend before term two set in...have a great weekend all...

          cheers

            Hi Leanne

I think is her CL teacher's initiative as her school didn't have CA1 exam for CL. BTW, I heard from dd her class had already completed those worksheet ahead of SA1. Really :salute: to her CL Teacher for great work done.

Look like most of the schools (my guessing) are still focusing a lot on maths and neglected Science lah.

Yes, still has two days and let’s enjoy this weekend. :celebrate:

            Cheers

              Hi P6 parents

Do you encourage ‘memorising’ model composition whether EL or CL ? Personally, my view is 20% component comes from this written composition, and by reading through model compositions, it should kinda help boost the written level whether we are talking about grammartical accuracy or sentence structure or crux ideas ?

Am also sure some parents will not agree on this approach, especially when the child’s capability to express their thoughts/juicy ideas/creativity are under control.

I am for this idea if the child is normally not excelling in this written area and not scoring > 30/40 type of marks. How to help to boost up the marks to cross 30, or even crossing 35 out of 40 ? I am asking for help and ideas for sharing here.

My DS is totally against this idea as he feels his creativity and/or originality in his plots are being hampered and under control.

I am still wondering what other methods to help boost up this area when we are talking about 20% component. It’s a lot !

May I hear your views and sharing, MTIA.

I feel that for reading as reference and learning some new words or phrases are ok but not for memorising.

I think is important to write at least once a week, e.g. as of today we have written 12pcs vs school 4pcs.

Its take time and effort (reading books, practicing, watching CL show etc). For CL compo., after so many hard work then dd finally can score 34 (done in class) and 36 (with little touch up by parent) this year.

                Just my 2 cents thought

Congrats to achieve this (in bold) and your DD is fully co-operative in ensuring she does her best shot in preparations for the BIG day.

Agree for practicing part. Keep practicing to allow fluency of language, reduce spelling errors, improves grammartically and idea creativity. For DS, he has completed 6 to-date at home and 4 in school .

I feel that the ideas part coming from watching shows and reading widely will definitely help in their growing years sofar. Of course with their limited life experience (11-12), of course the parents or adults to share life experiences so that their little growing minds can delve little deeper. Therefore, reading again and again model compositions to certain extent to help in child's writing skills.

DS fails to agree my view which prompts me to find out how parents/kids out there do to improve.

Thanks Brenda for sharing; suggested to dd to write a compo regularly. 🙏
