Need help on how to present working for this question :


Florence wants to give some pencils to every child in her class. If she were to give 2 pencils to each child, she would have 13 pencils left. If she were to give 3 pencils to each child, she would have 5 pencils left. How many children are there in her class?

Extra pencils to be given away = 13 - 5 = 8

Additional pencil to give to each child = 3 -2 = 1

Number of children = 8 / 1 = 8 children (Ans)

No of Oranges No of Pears Total no of fruits

From the above data , we can see that ,

No of pears + Total no of fruits = 28

When total no of fruits = 20

no of pears = 28 -20 = 8 (Ans)

no of oranges = 20 - 8 = 12 (Ans)
