[Jurong West] Primary Schools

Since u only qualify for phase 2C, u will most probably need to ballot if u register ur dd in West Grove as for the past few years, balloting was done in 2C for those staying within 1km. So u have to decide whether u would like to take the risk to ballot.Hi,
I am new to KSP... Now I am a bit stress up about choosing the right school for my girl. Staying within 1k from West Grove but what are my chances? I am not a PV, no time and too late to do it right now.
Seems like XingNan is up and rising it is one of my consideration... I need some opinion... what other schools should i consider??
Among other schools in Jurong West area, the other popular ones would be Rulang, Shuqun and Jurong West, but all will need to ballot too based on historical trends.
For those that do not need balloting under 2C last year, Xing Nan seems to be the most popular choice, followed by Pioneer and Lakeside, based on last year's registration data. Perhaps u can visit the schools to give urself a better insight. -
I m patting myself on my back bcos I finished reading all 141 pages.

I am curious about why JWPS is so popular this year when they dont seem to do very well academically.
The academical ranking provided by this forum shows JWPS to be right at the bottom.
I am statying at st 93, so only WG, JWPS and JY is within 1km. Thinging of doing PV but yet to decide which school. Xingnan is up & coming but >1km away.
Wat do PV does? What kind of duties? to be performed during school hours? -

schools can be popular if they are in a very densely populated neighborhood. but they can also be popular if the school teachers or programmes are good. i think you have to visit the school to find out more. i don't know too much about JWPS so cannot comment.
PV varies from school to school. Different schools have different needs. I didn't do PV so maybe others can comment, I just wanted to congratulate you for reading everything!
Doesn't have to be within school hours cos my sil did PV for Rulang and she was asked to mark some stacks of papers and tabulate marks. This was done in her free time.

Hi. JWPS PV sometimes need to help either early in the morning to monitor the morning session pupils at the gate or traffic lights junction. Sometimes, they might ask you to help when the pupils go outing or having some extra programmes in the school -

Hoho, took me many lunch hours.
I hope I will find some PV duties that require me to do during free time too. Dun mind taking leaving for PV duties too if can clock many hours in 1 session.
shurley,
Hb and I start work really early, thus such morning duties are out for us.
U r doing PV at JWPS? I am still wondering if it is a good school to spend my effort cos their academic ranking is really bad. If WG do not limit the no. of PV and PV runs huge risk of being ballot out, then I think I better not take chance. Thinking of doing PV with XN instead but XN is 1 to 2 km from my home... Worried that it will require balloting too. -
Hi.ZuEn. My kids are at JWPS now. To me, the school is so far so good. So far, my kid’s teachers are quite responsible. No school is prefect. Sure has some good or bad comments around. But at least to me, the principal and the teachers will react when you had any problems, they are willingly to help.

Hi shurley,
Icic.. Actually DD is borned in year 2008. I am just being KS. I probably still have 1 to 2 years before I start performing PV. Just wanted to do my homework 1st before deciding where to put my bets. I am a FTWM with 2 kids, so limited time to do PV and dun want to waste my effort.
By the way, anybody noes when will the table on balloting history be updated? Saw that the latest table is for year 2010. But when I look through the history of this thread, I realised that all (WG, JWPS and XN) needs balloting for phase 2B!
I dun want to do PV at XN to end up getting ballot out cos I am 1 -2 km from school. That tiem really can :stupid: . Haha. -

Err....the balloting history is already updated.
How could Xingnan have balloting in P2B when it still had vacancy in P2CS? :scratchhead:

You could have mixed up the schools after reading more than 100 pages!
