all the VERY, VERY best to your Sch B balloting for DD1, and passing the interview well for PV for your DD2.

Thanks !
That's why the whole questions on how balloting works, my colleague asked me and I went dumb founded !! hahahaha -
greenbean2011:
in certain Primary schools that has affliation to good Secondary schools with high COP (cut off point), if a child is weak, parents can receive stressful calls from the school to buck up.
I registered daughter in my former school with affiliation to sec...now praying
very hard the COP doesn't increase too much (better still if don't increase
) when she reaches P6.
IJ St Nicholas has affiliation but has high COP, same goes for SJI(J) from what I just heard. -

Just wonder, how come u do not want to try Rulang for the PV and choose sch B, I believe Rulang more nearer (within 2km), right? Although may not guaranteed a place for the PV.
Thanks

gsk[/quote]Rulang is not within 2km
, Nanhua is actually nearer but at 4.11km and 2 mins drive from my office. I wasn't expecting to move to Jurong and didn't realise PV for Nan Hua closes so early..

Yes, most primary schools with direct affliation into good Secondary schools are raising the bar gradually for COP (cut off point), in gentle incremental dosage over the years β¦ to be fairer to those external students all over SG who are fighting /competing for entry into the same good Seconday school for one tiny spot.
these external students normally enter with minimum >=10 to 15 points higher than the privileged affliated primary school students.
on one hand it is good to enter a good primary school that has affliation.
on another, parents have to be on their toes watchful, to help their child.
really, being a parent these days is so stressful ! -
over here, you can see what COP is like, for past 3 years (2009 - 2011), for primary schools with affliation into Secondary.
changes are gradually taking place.
for the first time in history, Paya Lebar Methodist Girls has started to accept external students from outside.
you can copy out these COP into an Excel spreadsheet, sort in descending order by year, to examine further in greater detail :-
http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/3-year-official-psle-cop-2009-2011-secondary-1-intake -
after you sort out the spreadsheet COPs by year in descending order, you can also discover β¦ where your childβs primary school stands academically, as well as in that particular neighbourhood area you are staying / not staying, but interested in by region.

by the way, is anyone attending: http://www.youngparents.com.sg/event/2011/03/p1seminar/?

My personal opinion is that over the years, those good affiliated secondary schools will be in keen competition with other schools to compete for top students that they will raise their affiliation COP such that it will not be far off from their external COP. Look at SJI, affiliation COP is only 3 points lower than external COP last year. Catholic High has been raising their affiliation COP yearly. If the trend continues, it will become a case of with / without affiliation is not going to make much of a difference.Yes, most primary schools with direct affliation into good Secondary schools are raising the bar gradually for COP (cut off point), in gentle incremental dosage over the years ... to be fairer to those external students all over SG who are fighting /competing for entry into the same good Seconday school for one tiny spot.
