      E3:
I wonder did those top students score as well for Science as compared to the other 3 subjects...? 👅

Haha, I know i sound mean, but PH's science results are nowhere near spectacular leh.. 😐 for other subjects, I agree PH's done very well.. but how to attribute 'top students' to this subject?!

Like what Mr HOD told me, 'if not, how else does Pei Hwa get top students ?'

Wah! Mr HOD Sc Say that?
Pei Hwa T R Very Sure of themselves -hor ....
        😉 😉

Aiyah, you all don't be like this mah. It's not over-confidence, it's pride & honour for the school. I always tell my ds, he better do well so as not to sully the good name of PH. Ding ding ding ding (soli can't resist the ding) .

Btw, how come we all assume its' the Sci HOD leh? Janet didn't specificially say that leh. Unless you all know something that I don't, hehe.

          Hi Parents,

I was like, ok. But honestly, I didn't quite the tone. Did PH really produce top grades for Science ?

          markfch,
I did speak to HOD himself.

Oh realli it's Sci HOD again har. Actually when conversing, words only made up 30% of the meaning, tone and demeanor make up 70%.

Imagine if I tell my ds in a nice tone, 'You are very clever hah.' Compared this to a fierce tone, 'YOU ARE VERY CLEVER HAH!'. Words are identifical, but the message relayed is totally different. Sometimes, I think people who have to deal with the public simply has to get out there and go for communication courses.

Yes, the TONE is very important bcos it substitutes the body language over the phone. I felt more :stupid: after the call instead.

Markfch, ur ds is really kuai lo, my ds 'complain' b4 that he plays piano w/o fail, until my ds finish his food n catching, he's still playin 😛 gd discipline 🙂

For music, I reckoned that I can afford to be non-kiasu, keke. After all, I've quite a few friends who after reaching grade 8, never touched the piano again as they hated the parental expectation of passing exams quickly. I certainly don't wish for ds to end up in the same situation. He can take up to P6 to pass grade 3 for all I care; as long as he continues to enjoy it 😆

Same thinking as me, but be prepared to let go of $$$$$$!

Hi comfy, long time no see, err I mean talk  .

For ds's music training, I've already let go of lots of $$$$$. I got him a custom-made german piano (with his name engraved on it) and had to wait for 7 mths for it to be delivered. The inside of the piano is green in colour (my fav colour), cool rite? 😉

Sound cool to me, green in colour, never seen one! How much? exam-model? If your ds like to play piano so much, why u say that his std is so-so?

                      Hi Daddies/Mummies,

I wonder if you find the idea of a ‘answer key’ useful…some schools have past year exam papers…and there is an answer key attached at the back which breaks down the marks allocation.
For Science, I find it very useful as it tells me what the keywords are and how to get those precious 2 marks in OE section.

Hi E3, regarding your query on ICAS papers. I find that the sample papers are not complete. Hence it is good to buy the full set from ICAS Head office. For me, the past EL papers are quite close to present paper that my DD sat for it during her time. The fomat and style is rather the same (no of poem, fiction, infomation text etc). If your dd enjoys and can do well in the past ICAS papers, then she most likely would not have problems doing it.

For Math, maybe one or two new questions would appear. Some of the questions not cover in mainstream like perimeter and direction (NSEW) will be tested in the paper.
For sci, I think it is very useful to do the past papers as quite of no of similar questions will appear.
