Been going round the forum and see ppl printing and laminating flashcard. Quite lei-chay. Want to share this software I chanced upon , called pixedlflash at http://www.firstwords.com.sg

I save so much time and money now, just need to concentrate on increasing my session with my kid.

Hope this helps some of you.
      hi Clarice,

      thanks for sharing.

Am not sure how this firstwords works but nearer to home, there is the Brillkids software which you can also import other playlist made by parents all over the world. There is thousands of categories and words to choose from and you can record your own voice and decide the play mode. I have this software too and uses the photos or ideas from other parents to flash to my gal. I only use the pc flashing once a week just to expose her to different media. But the only thing it's lacking is being able to burn the projects into VCD or DVD so that grandparents and helpers can show them in the day.

The contents are excellent, good for a full time working mum like me.
However, I still find the conventional way better because there is
      1. More interaction between my child and myself.
      2. We control the session like games before each session so she knows its fun to see flashcards
      3. Our voices tend to be more personal than pre-recorded
      4. We can change the words or revision anyhow and anytime according to the child's needs.
      5. No radiation
      6. Dont want to expose them to much to computer YET. hahaha..

But a mixture of different media complements each other if done in the right way. I flash cards to my gal when i am at home. During the day, she watches wink to learn DVD or Your baby can read VCD as revision. I realised she picks up the word and meaning faster. I also try to speak to her about the words we flashed when we play.

There is also a mini Doodle Pro that we have in the car and sometimes I use that to revise the words or just let her draw. Its small enough for any bag. Example, during dinner and when she is getting bored, I took the Doodle pro out and start writing the words like MEAT, FISH, VEGETABLES, SPOON, etc etc as revision. Of course, we made things fun too. I draw a plate and ask her to scribble on it like the noodle she sees on the table or the hair on someone's head..(idea taken from Kumon first steps books)

Hence, I guess its the whole approach! But if what you are doing works on your kid, then continue your good work!

      Good luck!

Thanks for the heads - up on Brillkids. Almost similar function to what I have for pixelflash. Cost wise, a bit steep compared to what I got for pixelflash.

Maybe can try out a demo.

                    I'm new here~~
                    currently a mum of a 7mth old gal n expecting a boi in 19 Nov 09..
i'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this.. but well heck..
I've research bout flashcards n realise tat there r 2 proper methods (of cuz some parents got their own method n it's working) to use the flashcards..
1 is the Glenn Doman method, the other is the Shicida method.. anyone can tell me wat's the difference between the 2 methods? n how to apply the 2 methods?

i noe of some places teach kids with these 2 methods..
Shicida class (shicida method), little neuro tree (glenn doman method)..
which one (or if there's any other \"schools\") should i enrol my kids in? or which one should i check out?

                    TIA

                      Hi Phankao,

I think Union Book Store at Bras Basah Compex #03-01 sells it. At children section. You may call to check before go down. Contacts : 63380696 / 63373733.

I know where to get them already. In fact, I find the Level 1 set a waste of money since my baby already is familiar with all those words.

Can get from Growing Fun, nurture craft or other similar type of shops. Usually S$74/set and if you're member, and additional 10%. Much cheaper than Union bookstore which sells it at S$79.90.
