Yes, my ds plays the piano in the sch every sch day without fail. He haven't stepped into the canteen since he found out he could practise on the piano during recess, sometime in early Jan. At least on Tue & Thurs, he bothers to go to recess prayer before dashing off to his beloved sch piano practice.
Wow .. look really nice.
Thanks for sharing .....
Does your ds play at the piano in school?
A lot of kids play at the piano during recess time.Trapwithin:
I think I'm hitting a raw nerve here. The truth is that come appraisal time - when all the promotions and bonuses are dished out - those teachers who are dedicated in their work may not necessary turn out best. It's those staff that chair committees, runs projects who get the nod. So over time, teachers who are passionate in teaching but are otherwise low profile, will get passed over and maybe demoralised.A lot of teachers are in the profession not becasue they have a passion to teach. As such, it is quite normal to see teacher that lack the \"special touch of love\".
I think this is sad but true; and it's the same in any other industry.Mum1113:
You know, you're the 3rd person to say that to me this week. DS told me that he thinks the sch's piano costs only $1000 because 'it's not very good' in his own words. But he still practices on it daily. Actually even on my sis's battery operated keyboard with its springy action, ds can also play on it happily. So I guess he really loves piano.Really appreciate your sharing and indeed it is a great piece of investment for ds, when especially he plays it regularly without you prompting and what's more, also playing on the 'not-so-nice' piece in school compound. It just shows his deep interests and love for piano music :celebrate:
Part of the reason why he is so enthused is that he has a very good friend who will join him at the piano corner daily. They share the same piano teacher, swimming coach, used to be same tuition ctr and sometimes we'll park them at each other's house. So the companionship is there.lizhi:
That emerald greenish colour has always been my fav colour since young. Only during NS did I get sick of green - everything in army camp is green, overdosed liao - and for a short while, my fav colour changed to deep blue.Wow, really very very Cooooooooool!!! looks like emerald marble, nice!

IJJ:
I had lessons at Yamaha for 2 years, progressing well enough to play a bit of classical songs and my fav Carpenter's and Beatles' hits, but only simplified version though. What to do, I belonged to that era. :oops:Wow...very cool piano! Do you and your wife play piano too?
E3:
The bigger qn I want to ask is, 'Will my ds turn out to be in the same league - don't even think of surpassing yours - as your dd? :evil:Cool piano, Mark! Your ds should thank his lucky stars that he was borned two years later than my dd cos he wouldn't have his chance to hold his mini concert during recesses or before school then...

The Sauter sound is unique, crystal clear but not sharp nor mellow and full of oomph when engaged. Someone asked me to post some recordings of it.
It's below; it's really wonderful.

Yes.. i tink P did mention something like this during the 1st day of sch to parents during the briefing session.. she did say that even if maid/grandparents bring over, they'll not pass to the child.. to let the kids learn responsibility
ha? got such \"rule\". When? didn't heard from my boy. Then better make sure my son bring every correct stuff to school everyday.Funx3:
Hi Parents,
Have U Heard of this Latest \"RULE\" in Pei Hwa?
If Your Kids Did Not Bring Their Books, HW, Art Piece, etc for Whatever Reasons,
And the Parents, or Maid Or Whoever it is Brought it to School,
The Items WILL NOT Be Hand Over to the Kids.
And They Will Have to Face Whatever Punishment by the T.
According to the GO Office Stuff, This is Directives from P.
And the Aim?
To Teach the Kids a Lesson for Not Bringing Whatever Stuff that is suppose to Bring ....
So What's Your View On This? -

For Example, My Gal has encountered a few times, when she got into the Class late becoz of Prefect Duties, Some Kind or other of Briefing (Not Involving the other Classmates), Dental Check-up, .... She Simply did not know of such and such a thing need to be brought for Class.
And Upon seeing her other classmates bringing these to sch early in the morning, she called home to pass her the things during recess, so that she won't miss the lessons ....
So the Kid Gotta be penalised for this as well?  -

Ivory is already banned in piano making. Nowadays the better pianos use a synthetical substitute called ivorites. The black keys remain as ebony though.
So I have the dubious honour of waking you up from your KSP hiatus?
Quite a few PH parents have promoted to GM[/quote]congrats to those passed the milestone of GM !

Funx3, I believe that for every policy, there will always be some casualties.. no way can there be a perfect policy, that covers everything. But I do hope that the GO staff can be flexible sometimes, so that your dd will not have to miss out her lessons
maybe she can check with her classmates if she gets to class late? at least can reduce such incidents
then Mommy doesn't have to make the extra trip too
my DS is terrified of forgetting to bring his stuff.. I tried for yrs to get him to remember my hp no, within the first 2 mths of sch he called so often that he can memorise the no liao  good thing he is in the pm session, so I can still deliver to the student care
for those times i can't bring the stuff, I just tell him to apologise to the teacher loh.. hahah.
So, any daddies here going for the april event? DH is keen, but was worried he can't last thru the entire program (hiking leh!!) hahahah.. looks like a fun filled event!! -

A friend of mine was rejected at the school General Office (a school in bukit batok) for bringing a textbook for her son. Just yesterday, her son forgotten to bring a very important worksheet and their maid actually sneaked the worksheet in from the school gate to her son during recess.

I just checked with my P4 boy, he did not hear of this new rule. Anyway, no need GO to pass the stuff. There is a loophole. -

Yes, I believe kids should learn to be responsible by packing their school bag everyday...if they forget to bring, then apologise to the teacher. I stay 5 min away from the school but always tell my son from Day 1 that I will not deliver what he forgets. Too bad for him if teacher punishes...then he will learn his lesson.my DS is terrified of forgetting to bring his stuff..
