        Pls help:

        1) Veronica has $100. Racheal had $30. Veronica gave some money to Rachel. In the end, she had $40 more than Rachael. How much money did Rachel have in the end?

        2) Mr Wong gave her 3 grand children, Janet, Simon and Alicia a sum of money. Janet received 3/7 as much as Alicia. Simon received the same amount of money as Alicia. If Janet received $180 from her grandfather, how much must Simon and Alicia each give to Janet so that all three children have the same amount of money?

        TIA.

          Q1)

          V [ 100 ]

          R [ 30]

          Total = 100 + 30 =130

          V [ ][40]

          R [ ]

          [ ] + [ ][40] = 130
          [ ]= (130 - 40) / 2 = 45

          In the end , Rachel had $45 (Ans)

          Q2)

          Janet [ ][ ][ ] 3u
          Alicia [ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ] 7u
          Simon[ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ] 7u

          3u -------> 180
          1u -------> 60

          7u -------> 7 * 60 = 420

          Total amount of money = 3u + 7u + 7u = 17u = 17 * 60 = 1020

          Each of them had the same amount of money = 1020 / 3 = 340

          In order for all three children have the same amount of money ,

          The amount of money that Simon and Alicia should give to Janet = 420 - 340 = $ 80 (Ans)

                  Greatly Blessed:
                  OO+{}{}{}=520

                  O+{}=186
                  OOOO+{}{}{}=_____

                  What's the answer pls? Tks.
                  Hi,

                  Hope this helps.

                  OO+{}{}{}=520 --- (1)
                  O+{}=186 --- (2)

                  substitute (2) into equation (1):
                  {}+186+186=520
                  {}= 520 - 372
                  {}=148

                  so from equation (2):
                  O=186-148
                  O=38

                  Thus :OOOO+{}{}{} --> O+{}+O+{}+O+{}+O
                  =186 +186 + 186 + 38
                  =596

                    Hi Small

                    Thank you, thank you

                    Didn’t know that I can actually put "+" between OO and {}{}{}.

                    The steps you’ve provided are so clear and easy to understand.

                    Thanks again.

                        Q44)

                        The Total mass of Alex, James and Richard is 146 kg.
                        Alex is 9 kg heavier than James and 16 kg heavier than Richard.
                        What is Alex’s mass?

                        (My kid and I are stuck with sentence 2. How to show in a model?)

                        Q45)
                        A box of sweets was shared equally among a group of 30 pupils.
                        5 of them gave all their sweets equally to the rest of the pupils.
                        As a result, the rest of the pupils received 2 more sweets each.
                        How many sweets were there in the box?

                        Could you show me how to explain to a P4 kid?

                        Many thanks for your time.
