Vocabulary list for spelling test for K2 kidz

I realised that my gal K2 childcare dun give spelling or ting zie. Looks like they are very laxed…

Is there any good enrichment schools that anyone can recommend ? She’s currently taking phonics classes privately.

Btw.. in K2.. actually children are doing grammar and comprehension already..
plus simple creative writing. K2 doing multiplication these days aren't new
to the scene.. so yes, times have sure changed. *pant pant*

Seems like we're either too fast or seems that we always need to play catch up!

:!: :!: :!: bbbbbbbuuuuuuttttt I only learnt my multiplication tables in primary2! And never really understood the concept till sec school ( yeah it just hit me one day even though I'd been acing maths). Do K2 kids fully understand what they are learning? And which are the primary schools that require P1 kids to come in so over qualified? *grumble grumble mumble mumble*

They are shown how to understand it as repeated addition.


Yaah.. the privileged children get additional external help from learning
centres outside on top of attending preschool daily.. but the less privi...
have to play catch up when the time comes. So.. whose to really be
blamed for the rat race that they themselves created?

It's like how they say.. the rich become richer and the poor? Well.... :roll:

My son is having 10 words per week for English and 3-5 words for Chinese Spelling.Sometimes the teacher would have dictation like 3-5 sentences for english and 1 sentence for Chinese… Right now, he already doing simple comprehension in class. Then the teacher gan chiong saying my boy is a bit slow in completing his work…I heard liao…wanted to faint…

By P1 and P2 levels, it is normal for teachers to give ten words a week
according to the Stellar pgrm story book for the month…with or without
dictation. Likewise for comprehension… the students will be taught to look
for clue words even within the questions, which they will highlight or
bracket to make emphasis on the answers to look out for and how to
write them correctly. As for the speed, ideally the children shouldn’t
spend too long especially for short passages with straightforward
questions… for the whole exam format English paper should be
completed within a time frame usually about 1.5 hours. There
should be time for children to check their work upon finishing
any exam papers.

My son is in K2 now. So the pace he is doing now is on par with P1 standards.

If you look at it in a positive way, it is good that his preschool

is preparing him for formal primary education.

My boy is in K2. He has weekly 10 words for spelling and 6 words for tin xie.


The English words are sounded quite alike like fern and firm, berg and burn. Sounds like testing their listening skills. He’s phonic based so sometimes he remember via his phonic ways.


Tin Xie words are pretty difficult words, short and long sentence.
