      Need help from the experts here..

      1) Amy paid $56 for 1 turkey and 4 chickens. The turkey cost as much as 3 chickens. How much did the turkey cost?

      2) Sharon paid $28 for 1 duck and 3 chickens. Betty paid $40 for 1 duck and 5 chickens. What much did a chicken cost?
      Hi, not expect lah but give a try:

      1) 1 turkey = 3 chicken

      1t + 4c = $56
      3c + 4c = $56
      7c = $56
      1c = $8

      Therefore, 1t = $8 x 3 = $24

      Hope the above help.

          Hi violet04

          You're welcome. I think the standard is getting tougher compare to few years back.

          BTW, the following is the Q2 working:

          Information from question:
          1d + 3c = $28
          1d + 5c = $40

          1d + 3c + 2c = $40
          $28 + 2c = $40
          2c = $40 - $28
          2c = $12
          1c = $6

          Therefore, one chicken costs $6.00

          Hope the above help.

            Hi,

            Need help with the following Math problems. Many thanks in advance.

            1. Alvin’s monthy income is $250 more than Clare but their monthly expenditures are the same. Over a certain period of time, Alvin has saved $1350 and Clare has only $600. Given that each of them spent $500 a month,
            (a)How long did Clare take to save $600?
            (b)What is Alvin’s monthly income?

            2. Mary and Jason each have some money. If Mary spent $80 per day and Jason spent $40 per day, Mary will have $400 left when Jason has pent all his money. If Mary spent $40 per day and Jason spent $80 per day, Mary will have $1000 left when Jason jas spent all his money. What is the amount of money Jason has?

              1. Alvin's monthy income is $250 more than Clare but their monthly expenditures are the same. Over a certain period of time, Alvin has saved $1350 and Clare has only $600. Given that each of them spent $500 a month,
              (a)How long did Clare take to save $600?
              (b)What is Alvin's monthly income?
              A [ ][500][250]

              C [ ][500]

              [ ] denotes savings

              [ ] denotes expenditures

              Alvin saves $250 more than Clare per month

              The amount of money that Alvin saved more than Clare = 1350 - 600 =750

              a) Number of months that Clare took to save $600 = 750 / 250 = 3 months (Ans)

              b) The amount of money that Clare saved per month = 600 / 3 = 200

              Alvin's monthly income = 200 + 500 + 250 = $950 (Ans)

                The amount of money that Jason has = 2 * 200 = $400 (Ans)

                    Henry and Jill have some money. If Henry gives Jill $5, they will have the same amount of money. If Jill gives Henry $5, Henry will have twice as much money as Jill. How much does each child have?
