      Jworld:
To add on to my post above, I have also put her on other products by the same brand.

      Vitamin C Liquid
      Echinacea
      Cod Liver Oil
      Pure DHA

They are all in liquid form and only require a small dose every day (eg. 1/2-1 teaspoon). So very suitable for my fussy girl. The liquid form can mix with her drink or something.

Most other brands provide gummies. It's going to be challenging for me to feed that to my girl. ๐Ÿ˜ข Since her first month, she already developed a very stubborn character when it comes to feeding -- shut her mouth very tightly when she didn't want milk anymore. So if I buy gummies supplements, I will end up eating them all

So the ChildLife's ones are prefect solution for me. Expensive though. But for my girl who has been sick, I just have to invest lor. kiasuparent mah. ๐Ÿ˜‰
it seems that cod liver oil might not be so healthy after all. The oceans on our planet are heavily contaminated, so the fishes are contaminated too. The liver part of the cod, processes the toxins the fish ingests.

If you want omega 3, best get a supplement which has gone through double molecular distillation, which means the toxins have been filtered off.

Since you're kiasu, best stop taking cod liver oil. One never knows where the fish comes from. Taken on a daily basis, the harmful toxins, though minute will accumulate over time. In this case, best to be both kiasi and kiasu.

I would advise against taking supplements at a young age. They should be taking a balanced meal. However, if your girl is sick frequently, bring her to a reputed TCM practioner. The chinese herbs/roots are still the best way to cure illnesses if you can tolerate the long healing cycle.
Anyway, you don't get instant benefits from supplements. So you have anything to lose. If your child has a medical problem, it is best to see a qualified practioner rather than self medicate with vitamin supplements, whose benefits are doubtful at best.

youโ€™re right to say that natural herbs and ways are best for sickly condition.

My mother in law have recently been boiling pear and some herbs for my kid to drink. There seems improvement. I have recently boiled apple to share the drink with her. We both seem to feel better after that.

But I still continue with the supplements. Frankly, anything can be harmful. Who knows. Somedays the news may report our apples and pears are poisoned or some negative effect on some herbs.

Before all these happen, we will just do what we feel most comfortable.

Hi Jworld, just curious, may I know what's the health benefits of boiling pear with the herbs? and may I know what are those herbs?

You also mentioned boiling apple. What else do you boil apple with? What health benefits does boiling apple have?

          Many thanks! :celebrate:

I can't remember the herbs that were used. I think one of them is chun bei, wu hua guo, nan xin and bei xin. The rest can't recall. My mom just went to the TCM shop and they recommended to her.

In any case, even boil the pear without the herbs are good enough, for cases like cough, bad throat. Not only you can the whole fruit's essence, but also at the same time take in a lot more fluid since it's a drink.

For Apple, quite easy. Just slice 3 - 4 apples, without peel. Boil with 1 litre of water until the apple is soft. throw away the apple and cool down the drink. Then you can start drinking. Good for fever condition. Even no fever, just a bit of heaty, also can drink. My daughter and I no fever. We both drank that last Saturday.

Not sure why fresh fruit juice doesn't give the same benefit. I also wonder. :? But last week, after drinking the apple water, I felt different. I usually get itchy throat in the evening esp if I don't have enough rest. But last Sat after drinking that, I didn't feel any discomfort in my throat ever since.

Some ppl also wonder why we don't just eat the fruit. But I guess if we drink the water, not only we get the good vitamins from the fruit, we are also taking in more fluid which is good for all the heaty and/or feverish condition.

Heat destroys vitamin c and many other nutrients present in fruits. Even fruits that are stored for some time contains less vitamin c, research has shown this to be true.

Apples are good because of the fibre and plenty of phytonutrients. There are many home remedies that recommend drinking apple water to reduce fever symptoms. Today I boil apples again cuz my daughter is down with running nose she caught from her classmates. As there was a lot leftover, so I drank some of it and am feeling less heaty now (this morning I was having some phlegm).
