Does anyone know of primary schools with good AED support for ASD kids, in particular in the Serangoon/Hougang area?

This question was raised before in this thread but I can't find the answer 😢

The MOE website lists the SECONDARY schools with AED support for ASD. Can't find the PRIMARY school list 😢
I heard that Monfort Junior School has very good support for children with autism. It's at Hougang.

          Hi,

Any parent here has gone through the Pathlight School selection process for its preparatory track - what happens during the selection process eg interviews ? Is it a tough selection process??

As for the preparatory track program, what is it like? More academic based or more social skills based? Did it prepare your child sufficiently to handle a primary one class environment in a mainstream school?
I have posted some pages from Pathlight Sch's Prep programme 2010.
          http://pingsped.wordpress.com/2011/04/04/pathlight-school-updates-2010/

I think it depends on the child. Children without sensory processing difficulties tend to have less adjustment difficulties in Primary One. eg kids with SID tend to wander more/leave classroom repeatedly, get upset with noise & general \"chaos\".

Pathlight School does not address reading disability or language difficulties such as dyslexia, SLI, etc.

          Selection criteria
          a) 1st screening - IQ report
          b) Pathlight School screening (I think it's 3 part)
          - group assessment/lesson
          - oral language & reading assessment
          - forgot....

Maybe u read other posts from parents who have kids in Pri 1. There're lots of floortime & groupwork and talking/listening. Again, this depends on the school. It's best to find out abt pri one classes/teaching in your target primary school which shld ideally match your child's learning style.

there is a feature in today’s Mind Your Body about autistic adults and their job prospects.

bittersweet feelings after reading it. good to know that the infrastructure to support autistic adults on work placement has improved. on the other hand, still feel sad if this is going to be the future for my dd3.

2 April is World Autism Awareness Day but it came and went without any mention by our local media. Parents, you can still spread the message through your own efforts through this beautiful and touching song -

For anyone who is interested to do psychologist assessment w/o waiting for too long and do not have deep pockets, you may contact JCU psychological clinic. Their web : http://www.jcu.edu.sg/Home/Aboutus/tabid/85/SuperStructureID/98/Default.aspx

                  Thanks for referring this IJJ.

Can i ask, have you personally used their service before? If yes, can you share with us how comprehensive is their report ? How long is their full psychological test, is it the usual/standard 4 hours test?

Also, would you know if they are familiar with the \"standard MOE\" requirement needed for school enrolment eg the school readiness assessment, the standard psychological & diagnostic test needed to fulfill , say, Pathlight or APSN entry requirement? Many Thanks!

                      Hi IJJ

I am also interested in the above. My ds could be on the ASD spectrum.

Can PM me your experience too?

                      Thanks in advance.

                        Hi

Have anyone tried OVSpring before? Would appreciate any feedback with regards to their services and programs.

Their services and programs looks quite impressive especially the social thinking and transition to school programs.

                        Many thanks in advance.

                        Regards
