it is possible without maid, but i shall admit it is painful coz i do not any free time at all. I do not watch any movie for consecutively 5 years and I do not go to any spa or facial treatment. i seldom watch TV or DVD either. Everyday was the same, rushing for work, rushing back home, doing house cores during weekends. More or less like a robot ...

oh well even with a maid and working FT, i didnt watch a movie till my kids were like 10 ๐Ÿ˜„ ! I stil remembr the experience as I was clueless how to get tix and where to go in the cineplex hall after buying tixs etc.....

anyway guess one suggestion wd be get a parttime helper in the weekends, so at least u can rest properly and not burn out!

Hi everyone. I'm new here..... need advice on going maidless...... more about myself in subsequent posts.

Agree with Sporemum having a maid doesn't mean we're free. Me too have not watched much movies since my triplets were born almost 4 years ago. Maybe 5 in 3 years? also not watched TV... so have no idea about what's showing on TV except the titles of famous or notorious shows like Ai.

Anyway, looking for inspiration to sack my maid from you peeps!

Actually I have gone maidless, when my kids are abt 11 and 9 yrs when my last maid left after her pp expire at 5 yrs. Come to think of it, I had been lucky with maids in the sense that I did not hv to sack any maid before their contract is up and the last one even renew a couple of times.

Anyway i did that as my kids were old enuf to be taught independence and I had a parttime/teleworking argmt. The timing was just right as the kids were old enuf to help out in chores eg folding clothes, wash plates. Get them to agree to the schedules but of course u need to monitor like hell. Also simpllify yr chores so that u dont tear yr hair out doing them!

Robot???!!! No way, I feel like I am a MAJOR Project Manager. Everyday i need to plan what to buy (groceries, toiletries, appliances), plan day-to-day chores, plan daily menus, ensure kids' school work and music homework are done and the little one is entertained when the jie-jies are busy with their work. Even in my dreams, i'm planning something, birthday parties, holidays...... It is just a pure logistic nightmare everyday.

Just wondering. if any working mums can share what's their schedule like for the week. Somehow i feel i can never catch up with all the chores.

              Weekdays (Mon-Friday)
Morning - make breakfast, prepare kids to school, the older ones (7 & 5 will pack their own school bag and help mei-mei, 2 years, to do hers). I get ready the towels, clothings, uniforms for student and child care, the kids change and dump the stuff into their bags on their own. Primary school dd packs her own school bag.
Sometimes, prepare some food to cook in thermal pot.

After work, buy some simple vegs (those that cannot last a week) and rush back to prepare dinner. Cook. Hb picks up kids. Wash disnes and screams at kids to do their work or practise the piano.
Wed- need to put laundry into washing machine .

              Sat- Sun
MAjor laundry day. Hand washing plus machine washing. Tidy up house, vaccum, mop, iron
Hb will send kids for their respective classes.

I work 5 and half day week.

                Hi b2b3m4,

I am also the Project-cum-operations manager at home.
Everyday need to plan what work the kids need to do, plan what to do for the day and make sure their homework is done, spelling is learnt.

Weekly - Change towels and bedsheets.
Monthly - Clean fans and vacuum corners of the rooms which irobot cannot reach / tidy cupboards and clear up mess which kids have created when taking their clothes.

i dont dump all the clothes into one basket.

i have a basket for coloured clothes, one for white only clothes, one for towels and this make washing easier and faster as i know which basket needs to be washed first especially school uniform.

i have a kinda food rooster which gives me the menu for each day for the whole month. like sat or sun lunch is always porridge. monday dinner is sushi, etc. makes grocery shopping easier. but i am a ็…ฎ่œ็™พ็—ด so it takes me a longer time to prepare my meals. somehow or other, food just didnt turn out the way it should be though i have cooked them before.

one thing i think ftwm should get is a dish washer. the time spend on washing dishes could be put to better use.

also a thermal pot as well.

I'm thinking of going without maid next year after the current one finishes her contract.

By then my kids will be 4 yr old & 2.5 yr old. I hope I can cope without a maid.
Thanks for all the tips given in this thread ๐Ÿ˜„
