2009 P1 Registration Exercise for 2010 In-Take

I am wondering... do RC & clan/church members really look at the chart and analyse their chances before registering in those \"HOT\" schools :?
-
Probably they already reach the point of no return.
I am actually using these chart to help a friend analyse where she should buy her house as she wants to stay within 1km of a good school. But there is no pt staying near one that is almost impossible to get a place.
Expert parents :
Which do you think stand the best chance if my friend manage to join grassroot and buy a house within 1km of :
1) Red Swastika
2) TNS
3) HIPS -

You bet we do...
Balloting at Phase 2B is not unheard of...
The information so far has been very useful - at least, we know where not to waste our time on... -
curiousl-ks:
Your right...I am RC but I do know that in some schools there is balloting at 2B and since I am beyond 2km of that school, not going there to waste timedreammom:

i'm sure this has been asked as well....let's say i have secured a place at my alma mater in 2A, can i try balloting in another favoured school in phase 2B without withdrawing? so if i don't win the ballot, i can still fall back on the 2A one.. thanks for your help
What u can do is to apply SCGS under 2A1 first. Then monitor MGS take-up rate on the last day of phase 2C. IF applicants staying less than 1km are less than vacancies available, then u withdraw from SCGS and apply in MGS. Do note that MOE website numbers are for all applicants, and some may be staying out of 1km. SO u have to enquire at the school directly to ask how many are actually within 1km.mmahi:
Hi all, I am new here. This question of mine may have been answered in the past. Please bear with me.
I am alumni to SCGS which means my daughters will get in at phase 2A1. However SCGS is further than MGS (within 1km). MGS means my mil or maid can walk them to school conveniently.
Any good advice on how I should take?
- just go for SCGS
- skip SCGS and bet on MGS that <1km no need to ballot
- apply for transfer after they started school
I suppose I can't register in SCGS and subsequently try the <1km at MGS right? The records would have been updated that my girls have registered elsewhere.... -

You are right. It has been asked countless times, so much so we wrote a guide http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/understanding-singapore-primary-school-registration-processes....

You cannot do what you asked. If you have gotten a place in an earlier Phase, you must withdraw from that place if you want to try for another school in a subsequent Phase. The system is centrally monitored by MOE, so there are no loopholes in the process (in this aspect). -
ooops   sorry chief.. thanks for very prompt and clear reply.. runs off to do home work
