If maids can make life so difficult for us until we want to send them away, how come we never thought of making life so difficult for them that they want to leave and pay the penalty?   Just joking.

Good idea but how to do that :?

      don't know leh.
We employers don't have 'exit strategy' like that they do. We can only 'quit' having maids 😢 or pray we have good maids. 🙏

Maids who have the intention of stealing don't keep stolen items in their posession. They pass it off to the neighbours' maids for safekeeping. They pass things through windows, through facing kitchens, back doors etc. So don't think that even if you don't let your maid out of the house she has no way of passing items around.

my fren's maid can \"communicate\" with her neighbour's maid by throwing paper message via kitchen window.. clever right ? my fren eventually found out all the paper messages, and since then she lock the window when she went out.

Saw my maid standing at the window starting outside for a long time this morning and she loves to stand at the kitchen/ bedroom window in her free time - reminds me of this posting. They don't need phones. Paper messages also can.

Her boyfriend wrote to her in English? Terrible, these maids.
I doubt it's boyfriend since she writes to many guys. And one goes by the name of bala.

Oh did I mention she brought back bed bugs?

Actually the reason I let them have handphones is simple. They almost don’t have a life here so it’ll be nice to have a phone and they can at least communicate with friends. In the end she used the phone all the time. I had to step in a few times and stopped her. There were many times I stepped out of my room to see her in her room. When she saw me she would pretend to rearrange things. Despite warnings of keeping her phone, I’m reluctant to do I since it’s her phone and she’s 34 or so. I would think she has more self control than that.

As for off days I gave my maid cos she said she has relatives here. So I thought again it would be nice to be able to meet some people whom she can communicate easily and without restrictions. But in the end I think she went out to meet guys more than relatives.

icic.. jst check , even for indo maid will ask for phone? if fresh maid, who they call? no frens wat.. can we restrict them from making frens?

Fresh maid doesnt equate to no friends. Fresh being first time working in SG. They have their own relatives, relative's friend, etc who may have been working here.

Does your maid intend to return to work ? Maybe a higher pay will attract her to come back after her 'home leave'?

They make friends with neighbours' maids, neighbours' maids introduce friends (including men) etc.
