My 15 mths girl still refuses to talk. Need some help!!!

Hi,
My 15 mths girl is refusing to call 'papa' or 'mama' but when we ask her 'where is your papa or mama?', she knows how to differentiate. When we ask her where is fan, television, ear, hair, legs, hands etc, she knows how to turn her head to. She is very lazy to point to the object that we are asking but will point to us what she wants.
Now, my worry is that until now, she still doesnt call 'mama' or 'papa'. She called once before but after that, she stops calling.
Last month, she knew how to say 'oval' and 'apple' but these few days, she stops saying. Dunno why! Very headache. :?
I have been using flash cards with her since she was 9-mths old.

Does your girl ‘mumble’ or made some noises sometimes to indicate that she is talking?
I think some kids develop differently (mine is 17 mths and can’t walk without assistance, doesn’t call papa and mama, just talks in singsong baby speak and didn’t start crawling until 12mths), and I think that if you have been working with her on flash cards consistently you needn’t worry about it too much. What I’ve read online that the key is ‘keep talking to her’. -
haha...my 16 mths botstill doesn't talk...and can't call me also...but he understands what we are talking.he mumbles,just cannot make the words...I dun worry abt tis...cos my BIL started talking when he was 3year old. after he started talking, he talks NON-STOP.

My son is 20mths now.. also refused to talk. I always thought second one will learn to talk and walk faster.. but he is not.
Waiting for that day that he start call me mummy... -

That's what I was going to recommend. Talk to your children, and more importantly, talk normally like you would talk to an adult.
NEVER EVER baby-talk to babies.
One day they will talk so much you wish they'd shaddup for a second! -

Hey mummies, don't worry, i was also a worried mom like you. My elder son who is now 25mos only started saying papa and mama at around 20mos but since then, he has been picking up good and bad words from us everyday and talking non-stop (you'd wish they will stop)! I remember i used to be speaking to my boy in a phonetic way so that he would watch my lips and see how i pronounce words. Perhaps that helped!EstherTan:

Same here. My DS1 started talking at only 27 months! My MIL was beginning to think we needed to take him to a therapist. One day he started and he hasn't stopped since, and was actually quite astounding what his vocab was (to us) at the time. Looks like he was listening and quietly taking it in then one day decided enough was enough and engaged his mouth! -

My dd cannot even call papa or mama at 20 mths old. But somehow a couple of weeks before her 2nd birthday, she suddenly found her tongue and can say daddy, mummy etc.
