      Hello ALL,

Just wanna check - there are many Science guide books out there esp those by EPH - which one is your parent using? What are your comments about those Science Guide Books?

I upload a few books here to share....

      1) Science Exam Booster Notes by Carol Phua - Bought this last Nov through recommendation from a friend. DD1 started reading it since then. Find the notes too brief - not comprehensive enough. This is just my own opinion; no prejudices/preferences whatsoever 😎

      2) New Syllabus Science Book 1 by Helen Lee - The notes are quite detailed and explanatory enough. Again - This is just my own opinion; no prejudices/preferences whatsoever 😎http://postimage.org/image/1i3urg83o/

3)Science Companion by Renee Chong -
DD1 is using this for her tutition centre as recommended by the tutor.

      4) Ultimate Science Guide - [color=darkblue]THIS IS A MUST BUY & GOOD INVESTMENT that I must agree so far ..Detailed and comprehensive notes and guides - easy to understand for someone like me who is weak & learning to love Science all over again 😉
Again - This is just my own opinion; no prejudices/preferences whatsoever 😎

        Hi cwc,

I was recommended to this forum by a friend regarding P1 registration...particularly active in July last year and got hooked to this forum ever since 😉

        Hi champion,
Thanks for uploading the pics...I know you have tried your best uploading the book covers but can't do so for 'Everyday Science'. Appreciate it.
I'm presently using Helen Lee's Upper Block to revise the chapter on 'Cycles' with him.

I went into overdrive during end P4...bought lots of Science reference/assessment books in Dec with the 20% at IMM. My son loves Science. Personally I find it interesting too. Also downloaded the past year exam papers and compiled them under different topics for him to revise.

Hi Janet, no problem - I am learning from all you parents here so thinking uploading will make the \"visual\" clearer and more parents can zoom into what they want to look for when in Popular Bookstore 😄

Yea, Janet - I see that I have more Science guide/assessment books than the other 3 subjects 😉...Am trying to do my own notes and compilation for DD1 before SA1 so that she can grasp the importance concept and key words. Sometimes when I look at the answers she puts down in the class worksheet, I want to :faint: - she is not answering to \"Science\" way but simply puts base on her own \"English language\" method 😢

When my son first started Science in P3, I had a hard time getting him to answer questions in the 'Science' way...I asked my cousin if it happened to his son then and he told me this - YES...answers don't have to be grammatically right but must be scientifically correct...if you get what I mean. For eg if the question is on similarity on living and non-living thing, then reference must be made to both.
I compiled notes for him too, but now realized those notes are not 'exam-proof'...so downloaded and printed out OE ones and wrote the answers for him to read and understand better (what is expected of him).

HI Janet - I am doing that too :celebrate:...That why I love to log onto this forum so that I am learning and gaining experiences from parents like you who have gone thru the process but at the same time teaching us new \"techniques\" :thankyou:........

DD1 is more 😄 that I write the answer for her to read because if I ask her to write, she will take her own sweet....sweeter...sweetest ever after time to write 😛

                    Hi Mummies,

I download and print out all the past year papers for Science, then fill in answers so that time is spent explaining to son…no point getting him to do the OE when he doesn’t know. His MCQ is quite ok but OE pulls him down. These 2 weeks, I’ve been busy printing out all papers from CA1 to SA2 since these questions will appear anyway.

For me, I have to read & understand when I copy the answers…however, my boy will just copy blindly…worse still when the handwriting is illegible.

:salute: & Kudos to you, Janet! You are a very hardworking and dedicated mummy! :celebrate:...I have the stack of Top Schools 2010 Exam papers with me but have not started reading it...Will definitely have to do it soon before it turns into \"recycle\" papers

Thank you, Janet - for sharing!

MOE made me go back to school  I simply detest the system.

I'm fortunate my son enjoys Science...this year, we are warming up for PSLE...crucial year in 2012. Then focus on younger one who will be in P3 when he goes to Sec 1...hope she takes to Science easily.
