Like that a bit of waste of time hor? Might as well just submit names of prefects and monitors can already.Herbie:
My dd was also got good speaker award for the prelimin round. I hope a cert will be given for her small achievement.
Congrats, Herbie!
For the leadership camp, I guess the teachers in my dd's school could not decide how to select.
First, the kids were asked to complete a questionnaire and they were asked to name a person whom they feel should attend the camp. In the end, from her class, only prefects and class monitors were selected. -
Herbie:
Congrat! Can share which is that 'right' school of yours? For such good profile your dd will have no problem in getting into any school, except SOTA and NUSH. By then her choice need not be yours and it will also be influence by peers and they usually go RGS leh.hi ksme. Thanks.. we are 'eyeing' for other sch la.

Ya lor! In the end, the kids selected are mainly those originally from the gep school as they are the prefects and monitors since they are \"more established\" already compared to newcomers from other schools. -
musette:
Yah, those from the school in P1 have an advantage because they're already known leaders. But if the kid is outstanding, there is still a chance of being selected, like Herbie's dd.jtoh:

That's very true, indeed! -
but not being in the original pri sch does have disadvantage. Most leadership post are taken up by the old girl/boy and the control on quota so less chance for the new student to take on leadership role.
-
Herbie, was your dd in a leadership position in her old school?
-
Herbie:
hi jtoh, she was a monitress in her old sch and if she had stayed on she would be a school leader liao. I just think the quota system which is three leaders per class in her current sch is just too rigid
Yes, too rigid. -
hi jtoh really rigid hor, dd’s p4 teacher told us abt the quota.
well, i think it is also a blessing too cos my dd is already very busy with her cca and other sch stuff. -
