My Indon. maid started with SGD400. At the renewal contract ie. 3rd year, we raised to SGD 450. Now with the new increased pay, we have up it gradually to SGD500. Now into her 4th year with me it is SGD550. With her next renewal of contract half-a-year later, I will up it to SGD600 (ie. into her 5th year).

Each increment is $50! and it is a 50% increment since she first started 4years ago! What does your maid do for your household ? Did you also give her off-days and mobile phone ?

      Hi Littlefly,

My Indon. maid before working for me already has 5 years of experience working in Singapore looking after 3 boys of various ages plus managing the household while her previous employer both working.

She is very experience, has her own kid hence got the motherly instinct to look after my boy well. She look after my boy since my boy was just about one month old and administered all the medication for my boy since young. She is more like a nanny to my boy than a maid! PLUS she does all the household cleaning and cooking while both hubby and myself are at work!

Right now, she is fetching my boy daily to the kindergarten as well.

She has one off-day per month plus hand-phone passed down to her by me whenever I upgrade. Her friends with many years of experience with 10 years is already earning SGD700 to SGD800. I think this is about the MAX I think is reasonable for very experienced maids. Don't think it will ever go beyond SGD800 (at least not in the near future).

Mainly I am comparing her pay versus the child-care centre pay or local nanny's pay if I had not hire this maid. So I am mentally prepared to pay up to such rates!

        autumnbronze:
        Understand your rationale.

Hence, we make it up to her in other ways by bringing her out with us, even when we go on holidays like msia and give her shopping money, let her order whatever she wants when in a restaurant, even if its a buffet ... only because she does help me take care of DS well and sincerely - that is the utmost priority ๐Ÿ˜„ ๐Ÿ˜„
        Hi autumnbronze,

Yes, definitely must count in such perks and good treatment too because really all these adds up to a lot of money - not cheap at all!
I think you are treating your maid really well!
        :celebrate:

My ex-indo maids didn't usually have the time to say sorry, when I tell them this is not correct, already their eyes start turning red, and then 10 sec later, it'll be brimming with water.

At times I get so exasperated I just tell them, cry no use; next time just remember.

๐Ÿ˜‰[/quote]No wonder you are willing to go up that much! she certainly sounds like a super nanny! ๐Ÿ˜Ž I tried to be a SAHM with a baby, housework and cooking and nearly go bogus myself. Then she is certainly worth keeping coz a nanny would costs this much just for babysitting one child.

In fact, we decide to hire a full-time nanny for my 2nd bb coz we don't expect our current Indo maid to be able to cope with housework, cooking and babysitting. Our experienced exmaid, ex-Phil cannot even do either housework or cooking well. :stupid:

And your maid must have really proven herself and earned the trust of your family to be around for this long time.

Finally my new maid has arrived Singapore. She is EX-SIN, so far we are happy with her. She is able to cook.

However it seems my elder girl dunโ€™t like her. My girl duntโ€™t want my new maid to send her to bus stop to take school bus. All the while we dunโ€™t have any maid at home and my in law is the one that taking care of my 2 girls.

For my 2nd girl, she got no problem with the maid. My girl can get along with her the maid and even chit chat.

Is it normal that my elder girl has such reaction???

Maybe your dd1 just prefers to have her grandma/grandpa walk her to the bus stop?

Sometimes with maids, they do favour one child over another. Human nature, maybe? And usually it's the cuter, younger, less complaining one that gets better attention.

i thk is normal. she will need time to get used to the new maid. it's transition time. When i change new maid, my DD will take awhile to \"observe\" then get warm with the new maid. but children can adapt fast. dun worry.

Littlefly, my DD1 is 7 years old and DD2 6 years old. The maid just been with us 1 week. I also hope that it just that my DD1 has not warmed up with the maid.

Jtoh,my DD1 prefer the grandma to send her to bus stop. However my in law has some knee problem that why we ask the maid to do the sending.

Like this morning, when my maid happily great DD1 good morning, my girl can totally ignored her. Hai. End up scolded by me because i told her must show some respect to the maid.

lizuan, give your dd1 a little more time and maybe have a talk with her. See if thereโ€™s any particular reason she doesnโ€™t like the maid.
