What about uniforms in those top schools as an inspiration for kids to join, cos they are so cool man. This is what was heard from a friend's kid.

This may be a motivation for kids to work towards in order to put on those uniforms of their dreams come through
:whut: Which school uniform 'cool\" huh?? :? You mean the PAP all white ones or the dark blue pinafore dress - not so cool by my standard lei 😐 . NUSH and NJ ones are more \"stylish\" though the colors are quite boring too.... Pls don't :heresmyfish:  :spank: :pokeeye: hor as this is just my personal opinion. Comparing with overseas school uniforms, I think our Singapore school uniforms are quite boring

The PSLE is the \"new O levels\", where the top 5% to 10% of students in the PSLE go on to do the Integrated Program which provides an almost assured chance to get into the affiliated top Junior Colleges. That's why PSLE is so important. Miss this important PSLE opportunity, the O levels taking student subsequently needs to get 2 pt to 3pt for L1R5 (6 subjects) in order to get to the top Junior Colleges.

My friend was asked this question and the question was thrown to me, and now I shall throw this over to the forumers here :

WHY is PSLE so important? What is the significance of it? What is PSLE all about? Why ppl so kancheong about it? Well, these are the exact questions thrown to me πŸ˜‰

Seriously, I have never thought of this until Ive been asked, although I also have a child taking PSLE this year

But I think it is good to know, and we can share it with our children too. So I guess I still got to thank my friend's child who asked her about this.

Appreciate all feedback and comments on the topic. Thank you.

Is it true to say that once kids get into the top secondary schools, then they don't need to do well in Chinese any more ?

Since the entry requirements to the top universities overseas do not require good grades for Chinese. I wonder if scholarships will consider Chinese grades ?

I am just curious, because I encountered parents who pressurized their kids to get 95+ marks for Chinese by forcing them to memorize model compositions, etc, without realizing that this will cause their kids will hate Chinese in the long run. It is impossible to force teenagers to learn Chinese this way.

I often heard of parents with P5/P6 kids who panic about Chinese when their kids get only 80+ marks. But I haven't heard about sec 4 or JC students who panic about not doing well in Chinese.

                      HCI also got buttons leh.

Gray is one of my favorite colour.

Anyway, if I am not mistaken, NJC gray coloured uniform has a reason, sth like being a national JC to be neutral.

Yes, I think HCI and Catholic HIgh both have buttons. πŸ˜„
