I heard from my mum that her friend’s new Indo maid who just arrived for 1 week is only paid $380 with no off-days.

We pay ours at $440 and that is after negotiation with my agent who asked for $480 for a start. I thought with higher pay, my maid will shorten her loan period but no leh, it is still 8mths.

My friends Phil maids are only getting the range of $350-370 with no off days too and theirs are hired a few month ahead of us. So i guess its really up to the agency we go to.

that is why i always suspect it is a ploy by the agency to scam and make more money, nothing to improve benefit for the maid

i have no qualms paying the maid better, but we need to avoid those agencies out to make a killing using all kinds of tricks and scheme (pronounced like scam)

anyone know of any agent/s that offers P/D cheques or half loan instead of full outfront. I dont mind paying a higher service charge rather then to stress myself chasing for the balance… OR any recommendation of agent that does not give lame excuses after they have settled transfering or terminating my maid and would pay out soon after all has been settled. Thanks 😎

My maid of almost 2 years is almost finishing her contract. Present pay $350.

What should her new pay be? I am satisfied with her performance, and want to reward her fairly. BUt also must be fair to my pockets. Haha!

Market rate for experience maids are $400 and above plus one day off.

I think to be fair to yr pocket, offer her 380. If shes not happy then no choice offer 400.

There is no such thing as market rate for salary increment.

I know many employers are only willing to give a $10 increment.

I have given my maid $100 of increment before. I have also heard of maids who are being paid $1000 a month, they have worked for employers for many years.

You should just pay whatever that is comfortable to your pocket, and also what you think will be good enough to retain your maid.

You are lucky. I increased my previous salary by $20 and included an extra day off. She is not happy and choose not to come back after her home leave despite reassuring me she would. And she only informed me she’s not coming back on the afternoon she’s supposed to arrive. Now when I go looking for a replacement maid all the agents say minum is $400 with day off!

How come we cannot tell our boss that if they don’t pay the minimum market rate, we also don’t want to work for them?

                      Sigh!!

Can! Provided you already got a back-up job offer or can always look for a job with better pay anytime due to market demand! If not, then no bargaining power lor...
                        😉
