We went.
In short, based on P4 exam result, students will be banded for all subjects - standard or foundation. School will recommend, parents will make final decision on combination to be taken for P5. After P5 exam, school will base on result and past history keep or modify the students' subject combination for P6.
All subjects pass well + chinese band1 >> 4S 1 H
All subjects pass well >> 4S
All subjects borderline >> 4S or 3S1F or 2S2F or 1S3F
All subjects weak >> 2S2F or 1S3F or 4F or 4F (sci non-exam)
The less standard (S) subjects you take, the less choice you have for sec school. HCL only for SAP school, +1 to 3marks depending on result.
Students with same subject combination will be place in same class. Might end up with a few classes that have different combination, those affected students will need to move around then.
Even within the (eg Maths) Standard group, there will still be M1, M2, etc. So will also see student movements too.
hmm... cannot remember liao... -

For Maths, the banding starts in P4. The top 3 classes have their maths banded in M1/2/3. I think the other classes take standard Maths.
