I can't speak for HCI but I do know that NUSH required all potential students to take the DSA testing in Math/Science/English. I do know of one or 2 medalists not making it through round 1 of the testing.Hi
My neighbour's son got plentium in SMOPS in 2011. His mother ask me if his son can secure a place in Hwa Chong through DSA phrase 1. I heard from some kiasu parents saying that this group of plentium holders will be offered an invitation from Hwa Chong and NUSH to join the camp. Is it true? I am quite curious to know if it is real? Thanks.

I recall that those with Platinum didnβt have to pay the fees for the camp.

hi jtoh,
You are refering to the camp organise by HCI? And when will they hold this camp?
-
vlim:
No, the NUSH DSA camp. The one after the Math/Science test.jtoh:

The one after the Math/Science test.[/quote]oh..NMOS which is organised by NUSH doesn't have 'Platinum' the highest award is 'Gold'..Top 30 or more rankings of NMOS will be invited for their DSA but still need to pay the usual fees. But the fees will be refunded to these students provided they pass the first DSA test and there after they go for the camp....They still need to go through the same test and camp before being offered a place in NUSH..vlim:

I was referring to SMOPS. I remember reading about it in the earlier part of this thread 2 years ago. Maybe it was NMOS then. Students who passed the first test and made it through to the second test had to pay a fee to attend the camp. But those with Platinum in SMOPS (or maybe you're right about NMOS top scorers) didn't have to pay the fees. They just indicated if they were attending the camp.

Hi
My neighbourβs son is from neighbour school. Do all of you mean that he can have a chance to join the camp definitely? Of course, the result should be according to his performance in the camp. There is no any case showing that those plantinum medalist must get a place in any school including NUSH or Hwa Chong. Am I right? -

before invitation to the camp, the kids must pass the dsa test first irregardless whether he got any maths olympaid awards. So first step, the student got to apply for DSA to NUSH. Then go take the test. If pass the test then u will proceed to camp. If pass the camp exercise and meet their requirements, the student will be given confirm offer from NUSH. You can go to NUSH website to understand more....Hi

As vlim said, the first round is to clear the Math/Science written test. If you clear that, you will be invited to attend the camp. If you clear the camp, you will be made either a confirmed offer or waitlist.Hi

Platinum in SMOPS does not guarantee you a DSA offer, although you will stand a better chance.
