Hi pls help in this conjunction question:

Qn : \"I hadn't had time to prepare for the speech. Therefore I just had to wing it,\" Ava declared.
          Ans : ________________so_______________ .

          TIA

Ava declared that she hadn't had time to prepare for the speech so she just had to wing it.

          To ridcully:

          What about this:

Ava declared that she hadn't had time to prepare for the speech so she just had had to wing it.

          😄

It remains to be seen whether your suggestion or mine can be put into practice.

Whether successful or not, we can be sure that Eileen did her best.

I would say no, although I understand your thinking about tense consistency.

The past perfect is mainly used to convey the idea of an earlier event or condition, which in this case is lack of time for preparation. Having to wing it is a subsequent event and does not deserve the past perfect.
