DLS told me i didn't stand a high chance of

getting my child in. Plus, with the lukewarm
response with initial inquiries already, we were
quite put off. :roll: My suggestion is just to stick
with Unity Pri and have a back up choice of another
school from the balance of the pool within the area,
going with the nearest one... JMHO.

All schools have their individual strengths. It is also
up to our children to perform to the best of their
abilities and potential.

Yes, my friend in Yew Tee says the school has rich
CCAs. She stays very near to YTPS.

You're not alone, my hubs too place importance
to travelling distance. Men are more practical?
Heehee.. Niwae our choice of being near to the
school REALLY helps!

Hi Anna, yes, I do agree with you that we should not place unnecessary stress on the kid but I guess with society's placement on enrichments, tutorials & all, we are all entangled in this big rat race......our next generation do not only stop at uni level but it'll be more than that; hence our generation of having own financial ability to support self study and all will be so different from our kids generation.
Which school will u likely to b enroling your child to, if u don't mind revealing??

Hehee.. It's Just My Humble Opinion or some

others may see it as Just My Honest Opinion.

DD2 already got a confirmed space using jie-jie's
sibling registration phase > Phase 1. Didn't
even need to go down to the school. Form is given
to jie-jie for us to fill up at home and return to the
school the following day.

But just to share that i did not manage to do PV
for the jie-jie the previous time, and also out of
the 1km radius. To be frank we were like on
the line of the equator. Yes... reali that heng, if
you get what i mean.. phew. PV was impossible
due to a new infant addition to our family then..

No balloting for that year also, thank goodness.
Within 9 to 11 days, we received the confirmation
form indicating the P1 orientation date.

Agree with you also. That's why lots of Singaporean not willing to give birth, too many things to consider. Not only the financial and etc.

I will register with DLS. There are 2 schools located within 1KM fr my house, one is DLS and one is SV. Since we are christian and i know that DLS has 10 minutes prayer times daily, so we decided to choose DLS, furthermore my second girl is placed in childcare centre at Limbang Shopping Centre. If i can get in DLS, will save lots of time for me to fetch them after the schooling.

Pls do not misunderstand that i want you to give up DLS to increase my chances. As i mentioned earlier my reason of choosing DLS. I was a part time teacher in Yew Tee Primary school and one of the secondary school before, the conclusion is the teacher is playing an important role, for some teachers, they will just pushing the responsibilities to the parent, of course also got parent pushing all the responsibilities to the teacher.

After we're done with school choice and confirmation,

No worries la.... i believe in fairness; so even if there is less one person like me to fight for a chance in DLS, there are still so many others....nothing is confirmed till the end....

As i share with a mummy in Kiasuparents b4, i like the school, the CCS is rich and the most i like is their ballet class (i like ballet not ballot) and i always imagine "how pretty" when my girl is wearing the ballet dress (don vomit har). Anyway, i cannot share much as this was about 4 years ago, i only with Yee Tee for half a year, then after that switch to Juying Secondary School. Furthermore, the principle is different now. I saw fr the previous discussion, YT had changed principle and sound good. During my time in Yew Tee, i realised that there always short of Mandarin Teacher and they have to combine 2 classes into 1. (Anyway, this was 4 years ago)


In fact, my second choice is Unity (b4 the registration start), but seem like i definitely out as i stay more than 1 KM. So, if i am out in DLS balloting then i will have to register with CCK (provided still have seats).

One of my friend also very worry now, she stayed nearby me and her first choice is Unity due to her daughter condition. Her daughter is "slow learner" and according to her, Unity is a resource school and have the counselling department, so "die die" she have to register in Unity, however now seem like chances getting low as we stay more than 1KM. I think compare with her, my problem (risk of getting in DLS) is nothing, as if i am out i still can choose other school. If she is being rejected by Unity, i not sure what she needs to do as not all the CCK’s schools have this special facilities.

anyway, if u r considering cckps; why not kranji since u shld be living quite near to kranji also?
