      Hi Brenda10

Yes, have also received letter from school to inform that all CCA and supplementary classes will stop in May for the 1st 3 weeks.
They did it so that students will have more time to study for their SA1 and teachers will have more time to mark the exam papers.

      Hi Hifive

Yes. This arrangement give student more time to prepare for SA1 as this is an important exam for those who want to apply DSA.

My DS school CCA still on next week. DS has been busy with homework and has not done much revision. For this week's oral, I just had 1 night each to do an \"intensive revision\" with him - just  what I wanna tell him and he did a little practice. Hoping we'll find some time this and next week (maybe during the hols) for some \"intensive revision\" of each subject.

We would also making use of this long weekend to revise more on Maths and Science. I think the only time left for us to go through intensive revision is this June Holiday. BTW, dd school would be arranging 10 lessons during the holiday on Maths problem solving. Hopefully that will help up.

That's good. No need to waste $$ to send them for Maths intensive course then. 10 lessons with well-planned content should be sufficient to cover all PSLE Maths topics. DS and I will wait till after SA1 before deciding if he needs any holiday intensice course. His school has activities / lessons on week 1 and week 4.

Yes, quite true. SA1 would be the second indicator to decide type of intensive training needed for those weaker areas. Must make use of the holiday June otherwise once school reopen I don't think we would have time to do much.

To score A for PSLE Chinese Compo, we usually target 30/40. For A* 35/40.

As we pit our children against the rest of the nation, we should have a good gauge of their language command displayed in the compo. Frankly, no memorise, no regurgitation. Just by reading and completing a compo with the phrases right beside the child during usual practices does not work in the exam. They will not be able to regurgitate expression above the national level. And parents also note on ‘Creative Writing’, there are some taboos that PSLE markers are particular about, too creative might get the kid into trouble.

Thank you for sharing. In fact, we also heard from DD CL teacher that the CL compo. and CL oral are the most critical factor to determine high A or A* on PSLE CL subject.

                    Hi Lynn,

No worries, I am here to help and share whenever I can. I mean PSLE is a stressful milestone for most parents and certainly PSLE Chinese happens to be one. Do drop by my page in the Market Section under PSLE Specialist if you need further advise.

                    Regards
                    Mylulaoshi

                      Hi Brenda,

Yes you are right, just take note that in my humble opionion all component plays a very important role. That's why during my own workshops, I highlight to the parents the different components and how the PSLE marker assess the papers. Let me know if I can help in anyway.

                      Regards

Wish all the P6 students good luck!
