From the many sources that I'd read, I agree that posts are mostly PRO-SINGAPORE and thereby maybe 'anti-PAP'.

This is inevitable coz public voices are seldom heard/printed by mainstream media and has to go 'underground' in a way. Once it is long suppressed and have to go 'underground', it is more difficult to engage in a meaningful form since public manifestation of such disagreement of policies are generally not welcomed or brushed aside or taken as 'noise'. People 'hide' behind the screen, each offering different opinions on policies, some are noteworthy while some have to be taken with a pinch of salt.

The current situation is brought by PAP themselves when they controlled the media to voice only positive things instead of otherwise and people are forced to voice grievances in social media (the way I grumbled about MCYS; about talking to them also no use despite having the facts and are powerless to do anything to them when my school licenses are dependent on them). This 白色恐怖 (fear of white) finally burst itself in full power for this election and more power to come for subsequent elections.

Unless mainstream media allow presentation of 'noises' and the authorities deal with such 'noises' constructively instead of issuing blanket/high handed replies, very few intellectual ones are willing to spend their time and effort to put their rationale voices to them (save breath).

Mainstream media give voices of PAP, social media give alternative voices of the general public. Sooner or later maybe ST can close shop...

      :goodpost:

      absolutely agree...insider.....well elaborated. :goodpost:

in short, who controls the MS media ??

do u think articles which are anti-pap will be published in ST ??
Likely, it’ll juz ended up in the chief editor’s shredder machine.

do we have the chance to see TPL stomping of her feet on TV ? 😉
or showing us that CST had his MPS at the void decks??

In her Meet-the-MP-session, i dont believe she goes through all the cases that night. She has assistant to help her. The news only shows she is alone in a room while people go in and talk to her and this picture the image to everyone that she went through each and every case, which i really doubt. I had went to meet-the-MP-session before which was just last yr. i, and many people, dont even get to see the MP, there are tables with volunteers and helpers which are there to see us, not the MP who see us.

I might be biased towards her, but well no one is perfect to satisfy everyone
usually the assistants (Read : volunteer, no pay type) will hear your story, write the \"case notes\" or draft the letter. if the MP agrees, the MP will sign off and send out directly. end of story

MP absent also can. grassroot does all the work

Think about it. How did you form your impression of TPL? From what people say, or from the Youtube video of her stomping her feet and of course, that Kate Spade picture. If you had not seen it for yourself, do you think you will personally have any real opinion of her, good or bad?

So true, chief, as much as the impression that I formed of NS. And all these, we would not have witnessed if not for social media.

I think apart from \"seeing' and 'hearing', a large part comes from being able to be 'involved' in communicating one's thoughts and opinion - LIke the numerous 'comments' you get below each article in online news, and also the speedy responses you get from voicing these thoughts & opinion...

Went to see MP many years back about roof leakage problem. Technically, was not see MP session. The volunteers will screen me. After hearing the problem, he decides that there is no need to see MP. The volunteer I met didn’t leave any good impression, no smile throughout. As if I am at fault causing him to do OT. Then when they came to walkabout, one of them recognised me and said will fix my problem if I vote for them. Of course, I felt defiant. Made me feel like I have to literally beg them to fix the roof problem. Afterall, I have to pay $ to fix the problem.

I've wrote to two MPs so far.

The first I wrote to him thrice but he never replied, totally 石沉大海. Surprisingly, he did implement my suggestion 3 years later. I've moved away from that estate by then. Alright, better late than never.

The 2nd one I emailed him at his direct email address. Call up his grassroot to make sure email received. Eventually another person replied on his behalf. They proposed short term solution & that was implemented after 6 months, but permanent solution still nowhere in sight after > 1 year

nope. In my case, I stay in HDB flat (tallest floor) and the roof leaked. I had to refer to Town Council for some months before they finally fixed the problem - and this was during rainy season :gloomy: .

Prior to May 7, I think the MPs had a walk around becos quietly and mysteriously, broken displays/stuff in the common areas were fixed - these had been broken for months/years and nothing was done. Suddenly before the E-day, it was all fixed. Only thing they didn't do was to put a new coat of paint...

oh...maybe that would only come IF we all voted a certain way. hee hee

... The way that this thread is moving is still very much like the other thread... I don't see any difference between this thread and that thread leh...

There is a difference between the 2. The first one we talk and it makes a difference. This one now we talk and it makes no difference :).

Okay, so i'll just take my time & slowly read from page 20+ to page 61 (as of now). 😉

If it is not HDB, 睬我都傻. If dont see MP,HDB will ask u go settle with upstairs neighbour. If see MP for letter to HDB, HDB will bear part of cost. Afterall, waterproofing works warranty is ten years. :imdrowning:
