Wah....they really want to put pressure on TPL or spite the choice of TPL ?? I still maintain that NS needs to garner more experience first otherwise she may end up like TPL when she is more exposed.

          insider:
          Funz:

As for your analogy of boss asking a salesperson to sell toxic stuff, well the salesperson can quit. And if guided by his moral compass, then that should be the obvious choice. But so long as he is still employed by the company, he has to wear the corporate hat and at most toe the work ethics line.

Think the problem is if willing to sell the toxic stuff then can get million dollars salary. So this moral compass is seriously challenged...

not getting into the discussion on morals. Too complicated.
          Funz:
Remember, hindsight is 20/20, at the time when people were benefitting from the rise of HDB prices and were able to use these as stepping stones into private properties where were the voices that say nay to pegging the HDB prices to mkt price?
I am one of those who profited a lot from buying and selling of HDB... It should not be allowed to happen in the first place as I can see 'bubbles' now and then (which I am also seeing bubbles now) that I timed and profited accordingly. Just like GY said, the 道, that one has to flow according to the tide. Have to make sense, survive and make the best in any kind of tides. Allow bubbles to happen benefit people like me and those more ignorant ones will suffer which is unfair.

I did not have that kind of luck, to make money out of HDBs. We talk our lingo ok? You have a class of 20 kids. In this cohort you have the 2 or 3 super performers, 14-16 average performers and another 2 to 3 sub-performers. How do you tailor your lesson plans. Scale it up to the level of super performers or down to sub performers or just cater to the majority and ignore the exceptions? Or do you scaffold the super performers and bridge the sub performers and yet keep the average performers on par. You and I know it is no easy task to do the latter. Whatever you choose, whether you will be judged right or wrong, it all depends on which category the person judging your decision fall under.

          Funz:
As an employer, I want them to ease the policy on hiring foreign workers. This policy to allow more foreign workers into Singapore is poison to some but balm to others so where to strike the balance?
Foreign workers are a must in Singapore, esp in the service industry.

The balance that they need to strike is not to let foreigners take over our more high paying management jobs and hang our experienced people who got retrenched or our young graduates high and dry in the air...

In this aspect, you and I are of like mind. But have you heard what the rest are saying? They don't want a service staff who is from China or Philippines or India.

A friend of mine had to put her expansion plans on hold and even wind up one of her restaurants due to manpower issues. Because of that, her restaurant manager who is a Singaporean is out of a job. Because she is unable to expand, there is a loss of employment opportunity for Singaporeans.

But then again... e.g. a company which employs 1 SG manager and 10 foreigner staffs... it can shut down for all I care.
Likewise for those MNCs... e.g. 10 SG mgmt/supervisors to 100 foreigner productions workers... doesn't raise employment of locals... so who do benefit in the end?

Has anyone posted this link before? Made me 😢 watching CST from his youth. Mrs Chiam looked so beautiful too.

It's titled \"Thank you Mr. Chiam\" Also, catch a glimpse of how meet the people session is like in the video. Really :scared:

              Hi concern2,

yes I think raysusan has put this video earlier too. CST is truly a great patriot. He is not as aggressive as JBJ, CSJ ( or even LTK ), but then if he had been, he probably would have been bankrupt by now. Don't forget, he survive 27 years in parliament, and considering the 80s and 90s were like iron-stronghold and not as liberal as present times, kudos to him.
Please remember what he did all these for - not for fame and glory, not for seeking multi-million paychecks and solid pension schemes ( he gets none of these ) - he does it purely for the people of Singapore. This is a man who loves his country and despite his meek personality, has withstood the wrath of the ruthless empire for more than 2 decades.

Which of the other MPs ( other than the popular LTK presently ), or even ministers, can you see the people and supporters TRULY appreciating his dedication and his efforts, even in spite of his current frail condition now.

which other political people have willing appreciative supporters ? pls take some time to see the 2 videos below

It's not about power, it's not about fat paychecks, its not about self, its not for own business, it's not for own family - but for his unconditional love for the people of this country.

SDP has yet to remove election posters in my ward. Some are half hanging from the lamp posts. Not a very good start to preparing for the next elections. I hope that next round, WP stands in my ward too.

Think Insider gave some idea as to how it works for hiring foreign workers.

Like it or not there will be jobs that are blue collar intensive like construction. Even those little companies that do your reno for you, think the people doing the ground work r locals.

Shut down for all you care? In that case be prepared to pick up the hammer n saw to do your own reno or pay a lot more to get the job done.

it seems many people do not understand why last itme Maersk Line quit PSA to go to Johor (over rental) … and then the spiral effect of job loss in the relevant supporting industries that hurt many singaporeans, penny wise pound foolish,…i think one minister got dropped subsequently…

like MM said, people don’t remember …
