        L1R5:

L1 - first language (English or Higher Mother Tongue. Not necessary EL Only. But EL def needs to pass if using the grade for HMT)

        R5 0 Relevant 5 (must include 1 Math, 1 Sci, 1 Hum + 2 best subj)

              The R5 \"Relevant 5 subjects\" must include:

              one science/maths subject
              one humanities subject
              one science/maths or humanities subject
              any other two subjects

So one can score very well in all his maths and science subjects but if he gets a bad grade in his humanities subject, he must still include it in the L1R5 computation

I found above on one of the KiasuParent forum. what about Students good in humanities & have been advices to drop A-maths, Physics.

Assuming they score ok in E-maths & uses it against \"one Maths/Science subject' , then can Mother tounge can be used against 'One Science/Maths or humanities subject' .

                Not to my knowledge, no.

For arts students, R5 would be 1 science/math, 2 humanities and 2 others. For science students, it would be 1 science, 1 math, 1 humanities, 2 others. Mother tongue would count under 2 others, if HMT is not used as L1.

Thank you. was looking for this exact answer.

Assuming science scores are not usable, what would be art student '2 others' subjects(most likely Mother Tounge will be one)

                  'Arts' ? , Econmics? , D & T ?, Home Econs?, Third Language?

For my school, we don’t do D&T, econs and only a handful of students have arts and third language. Therefore, most of them will use mother tongue and either 1 science or 1 math since the subject combination for double humanities is 1 pure and 1 ss/elective, 2 sciences and 2 math.

Thank you. That’s the most probable scenario. It would be science subject. Student with bend towards humanities would just pass A-maths.

And Biology would be the one where they would put more effort to score A2.

Just trying ind last subject with A2 in order to score L1R5 below 8.

hi DadofGirl, Chinese cannot be counted as a Humanities subject nor Science/Maths.

                        Science - Combined Science/Physics/Chemistry/Biology
                        Maths - AMaths, EMaths, POA
Humanities - History, Geography, Lit., Economics, Combined Humans (SS & Geo/Lit/Hist)

Chinese falls under \"any 2 other subjects\" as with Computer Applications, D&T, F&N.
