      Pen88n,

I guess that is why she sounded cheerful when she told me the marks. Thanks so much for explaining.

That's why all the more you should be happy for her. Kids know where they stand when they check with their frens in class. If by looking at the raw score, you end up telling her \"negative things\" due to your interpretation, she will feel that you have unrealistic high expectations, considering she has already done so much better than her frens. Unnecessary frustration and stress for kid in the end.

That's why I kept telling P5 parents don't compare raw score with P3 / P4 results. Compare with cohort to get a better gauge of kid's standard. This is very important to keep your own sanity and ensure no undue stress on the kid.

Ha ha....maybe I'm not bo-chap afterall, but rather, holding a slightly more realistic expectation as I always ask my kids....what's the average. If they fall below, then must buck up. If near, let's put in a little more effort to bring it higher. If above, Good Job but cannot slack....must maintain ๐Ÿ˜‰

Pen88n , u are soooo right. Different schools set different sets of questions , some are tougher than others. However, comparing with each sch with each level cohort, it is a fairer comparison and better peace of mind.

              Pen88n,

              THANKS once again.

I hid my disappointment from her and as sheโ€™d called from the public phone during recess, did not get to ask much.

Will be happy for her. Youโ€™re right - donโ€™t want a frustrated and stressed kid!

SJI is too far ? No ? I still prefer to keep travelling time to minimium if possible as I think the school days will be long and many activites.

Sec school hours are very long...so I want to keep travelling to minimum
I would like my son to go to SJI. ACS COP is 240...cousin's son is there (school hours until 5/6pm).

Today is the last paper...for the next 2 weeks recuperate from all the exam madness and then pick up again in June.

i would like my son to go SJI too. but there is no direct bus. need to travel elsewhere to hop onto the direct bus. alternatively, ds1 can 'board' at MIL place which have direct bus. not that i mind, but the dad minds! he said across the road have school, why go through all these trouble

Hi. Is SCSS = Swiss Cottage Sec Sch?

I heard that Commonwealth Sec Sch is a good 2nd-tier sch, COP abt 235+. My neighbour, who is a lawyer, was actually quite disappointed when her son didn't get into the likes of HCI, but now is very pleased with him in Commonwealth Sec. She said the principle and teachers there are sincere and she can feel the good vibes ๐Ÿ™‚
                    yes. SCSS = Swiss
my husband's views are bias cos he is old boy. ๐Ÿ˜„

                      Hi Jedamum,

Agree, our choices would probably be similar. I will try to let my kids study around west area, not so tiring. But first, think I need to familiarize with the abbr. of the different sch  , only recognise some like RVH, RGS, RI, SJI, NYGS etc hee hee.
Hmmm.....maybe you can share share your list? I am quite blur on all these right now, set my mind on RVH....but realised not easy so need backup plan.
 my new mp also only know famous schools. tell him where my ds1 school is, he :skeptical: . amy khor still the best cos is her turf (oops OT!).
anyway, my shortlisted schools are really around my neighbourhood only. for anything <220, really looking at convenience and student behaviour.
