DD was recounting how she saw a lady walking her dog and when the dog wanted to pooh she tried to lay some newspaper on the ground to catch the poop but each time she did that the dog shifted and in the end, the poop landed on the gound instead of the newspaper and the lady had to pick the poop up to dispose of it. She said so gross. That led to the following conversation

Me : That is what you will need to do if you have a pet dog
DD : Yah but not now, only when I'm in Pr 6. That's what Daddy said
DH : Wah this Pr 6 thing I mentioned long time ago and you can remember. But you cannot remember whether you have any homework or tests
DS : Yah che che so forgetful
Me to DS : You don't talk so much, do you even remember when is your birthday
      DS : of course
      DD : when?
      DS : day/mth
      Me : which year?
DS (pause for a while) : every year lah! I celebrate my birthday every year what.

DH was laughing and laughing. AT ME. Ok, my bad, I phrased my question wrongly, should not have said birthday, should have said birth date.

DS sat there looking all smug and knowing.

          this happened a while back.

One night, DS was flipping through his Lego catalog, making comments about how nice each of the models are, trying convince us to buy them for him.

DW (giving in) : how about you use your money in your piggy bank to buy 1 of these?

DS (thought for a moment) : cannot. I am saving up my money to buy you a watch.

          DW

that very next evening, DS was \"surprised\" with a box of Lego.

We were having dinner at a fren's restaurant last nite. This is the 1st time the kids met this fren for DH's. The kids were getting a bit restless after dinner and the guys were still talking shop so I brought them to McDonalds, which was just down the corner for sundae. While walking back they ask why Daddy still talking so much, I told them half in jest they discussing serious business (post GE gossips). On the way back home,

DD : Daddy what serious business were you discussing with those uncles?
DH : Orh Daddy going to buy the restaurant and go into business running restaurants.
DD : But the restaurant so quiet and the food not so nice
DS : yah, you buy McDonalds lah, anytime also got people
DD : Yah and they celebrate birthdays there also so a lot of business
DS (getting very excited) : Or KFC also good, they are also always crowded and everybody likes chicken (chicken is his favourite meat)
DH : hmmmm...... No, no, you guys like McD and KFC so much, will want to eat at my restaurant all the time, then I cannot collect money from you cos you will not want to pay me, like that how to make money.
DS : we will pay, of course we will pay
DD : yah, we will pay for what we eat
DS : but you must give us very good discount, or else we go pizza hut.
              :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

Teachable moments are precious to me, for it presents itself in the best situations to

teach the children as we go about our day. Most times it would be to increase vocab
by using varied words to explain the same thing. What better way to do so than
when it comes to a good moment? šŸ˜‰ Here's one of those days. šŸ˜„

We were watching one of the episodes of American Idol when i had to do something..
I asked her to hold the baby while i make a quick run into my room.

                  So i told DD2..

Me : If there's anything, you just holler, ok sweetie?
Me : Cause i will be in my room. I may not be able to hear you.

                  DD2 : What's holler?

Me : A yell... a loud call out... or a shout...

After i came out, i asked, \"So everything was okay while i was gone?\"

                  DD2 : Yes, mom. I could manage. That's why i didn't yodel.

*Haley Reinhart sang last and she did a yodel somewhat towards the end of it.*

One night , during dinner discussions, i decided to enlarge DD's knowledge of the world. What with her showing keen interest in the recent elections.

Me: \"Do you know what is socialism?\"
DD nodded her head vigirously as her mouth was stuffed with food. (sigh!)

Elated that I had underestimated her knowledge,
                        Me : \"You do? Goood.\"
                        Pause. \"What is it?\"

                        DD: \"You know , Facebook, twitter, ...\"
                        :faint: :faint:
