Ang Pow $ for wedding dinner
-
SAHM_TAN:
My sis recieved one from an acquaintance, as in only speak a few words, don't even think about her type of friend. She was shocked as to why she was invited because really like plain water friendship.
OIC. If your sis really feel very strange in receiving the invite, then really no need to go! After all, ang pow is a lot of money plus also darn funny to be sitting with people whom you don't know. Worst still not even close to the bride, why waste time?

Thought the couple woild usually swnd sms or email or use facebook to gauge who can make it? If I’m not comfortable I usually tell them I’m not available.
If they already send me the wedding invitation card then I usually decline with a small hongbao. -
How much consider reanable if not attending the dinner. Aldy inform in advance that will not attend the wedding dinner.

i got a wedding to attend this coming sun @ OCC. now in a dilema; how much to give?
its DH's best fren gettin hitch & was our bestman at our wedding but lost touch since then till to date. ( more than 10 years ago)
how much to give as ang pao now? dunno to base on old time friendship (老交情) or on location :? -
I don’t quite understand WHY pp must still issue the invite after being told that one cannot go for the wedding…
Anyway, once I inform that I can’t make it, I wun give money even if that fella persisted to send me the invite. -
she my ex-colleage but not really close. She sent me the invitation card first then asking whether v attend or not. so for me thought out of courtesy will ask some1 who attend pass the Ang pow for her.

Actually that did happen to me. I told someone that I was unable to attend her wedding, but weeks later, she still sent me the invite.
My take (very heartless) is that if the couple did not suffer financial damage becos of me (ie I advise in advance I’m not going so they should not have catered for me), I wun give lor. If I had said I’m going and then last min cannot make it, definitely the full angbao will be given. -
wat if col give card but u cant go ? still have to give right? i think now no more 100 in 5 star hotel… at least 120… else the couple really "pay for ur meal" haaa

Not if I told the colleague I can't make it. I'm not sure how the tradition of giving angbao for every invite received come from - but this is certainly a good money making opportunity...
